I once spoke to a mate of mine and we didn't realise who we where as we both spoke with our "phone voice."

Yes - my telephone voice is very different to my normal speech. Depending on who I'm speaking to, I can also "lose" my accent, something I learned to do when I worked in hotels. I also have quite a deep voice and sometimes I get mistaken for a man!

yes often people dont reconise me on the fone from face to face i spent 6 years working in a call center from 16 to the age of 22 and 4 years from 18 to age 22 working in a taxi office on the fone so i have had pleanty of practice with a posh fone voice

yes i probaly did call you to see if you wanted gas or a new conservatory next time someone calls you try to let them down gently

Yes. I try to sound professional at work when I'm on the phone and talking to others in my office. However, if you were to catch me out and about with my friends I have a much more casual tone. It's hard to get people in the workforce to think of a young 20 something professional as knowledgeable about work.

I am more careful in the way I speak when I am answering the telephone, I think everyone adjusts their voice according to the person they are speaking to.

I dont have a particulary 'posh' voice, but my voice does change. I tend to talk slower when answering a phone therefore clearer.

I try not to it sounds to fake and corny. But when I worked at Disneyland in the phone room we used to play a game to see how perky we could make our voice and then laugh about it. WE used to call it "pouring on the sugar". LOL! Good times!

Funny you should ask! Part of my job is answering the phone for my company and yes, I have a different phone voice from my regular one - kinda sultry. That is if I want it to be. . .if I'm busy doing paperwork and juggling the phone too, I don't bother with it.

Yes I generally talk in a posher voice when I am on the telephone to when I am just chatting in general.
