We enjoy having our 3 month old kitten sleep with us at night, but have a health-related question. Our kitten tends to sleep on our pillow, our back, at our head, etc. There's no discouraging her from this (or walking all over our pillows). She simply loves the company. Are we putting ourselves at any health risk?

No! In fact it probably helps you to relax and feel loved! My cats have always done that and I am very healthy and loved.

Not at all, as long as kitty is treated for worms every 3 months, and has fleas kept under control, there is no problem whatsoever! My boy used to sleep on my pillow, with his head and front paws stretched over my neck, so he could rest his head on my cheek - it only lasted for the first 6 months, then he got too big for us to share a pillow, and so happily moved to sleeping curled up on my side. I also find it's seasonal, in winter, both cats practically lie on top of one another...on top of ME! In summer, when the weather is warmer, they both prefer the foot of the bed, even with the threat of being kicked off by accident once in a while!

Enjoy it!

The risks are few, but there is a chance of getting fleas, ticks, ringworm, and developing an allergy to the dander on the cat.

Not to mention if the cat goes outside and gets into poison ivy, etc and rubs the oil on you.

And if you decide not to allow the cat on the bed after letting it, it may get back at you by using your bed as a litter box. Or a good place to place a hair ball or a new litter of kittens...

Kittens want to be close. I am 51 and after decades of pillow sharing I still enjoy every nuzzle. Don't worry all that can come of this is a very happy and secure cat.

lmao theres no health risk!! unless ur alergic to cats. I'v had cats all my life sleeping where ever they damn well plz and I'v survived 26 years .... u'll be fine just watch the claws when they stretch out on ur pillow u could end up with a scratch on ur face or on ur head lol I always just put up with it cause no matter how many times u throw them off they come right back lol tis the attitude of a cat

only if you have allergies, then the dander will get right in your face. my cat has been doing that for a year now & i have no new health problems.
