I've had this happen a lot. Also, my sister sees awful things like her boyfriend dying, or an old friend dying, in her dreams all the time. They've turned out to be true soon after she's had her dreams.
My most recent weird-connection-to-future-events dream was when I dreamed I was at a baby shower for some unknown woman. . . the brownies were burnt. I saw the baby as being a girl, with dark curls. And then a week later, I get the news my brother's going to have a baby. There's a dispute about it's gender; I think it's a girl because of genetics, and this dream.

It would really depend on your perspective point of view. There are those who believe that sometimes their religion and such have something to do with there dreams. For example I know many religious people who have nightmares on demons and such and they believe that this is a message that someone is using let's say black magic or that there is an evil spirit that will encouter them. There are those that believe that some god is sending them messages on the future and such. Anyways since you put your question in this category you might want a scientific answer.people believe that dreams come from the things in your head that were from the past. Some believe that dreams are a way to get rid of some information up there in your head. Like the other guy answer earlier we have 1,000 of dreams and that there is a chance that one dream will come true. Which is true because in reality people dream more then once in a sleep. However I think a more appropriate answer should do. Think of it this way your head contains memory from the past and many times you will never forget.your Brain can make a sequence prediction that is logical and that could come true. For example: there is A,B,C,D. A and B a family, C and D another. One day A eliminates D. A can have a dream using this memory data from the past to predic a logic sequence order in his paradox universe. A dreamed C elimated B. Then a year later his dream came true. Thus leaving A and C enemies. There are other sayings like dreams are both path ways to another realm, in which your dimensional sequence order is not your ordinary paradox period. Sorry for the bad grammar, but I don't have time to fix it now.

I used to have a ton of dreams that were about future events, sometimes down to the detail of seeing someone get hit in the head with a tennis ball during gym class or seeing the house I would live in during college. Sometimes the dreams would be about the next day events, other times they were about years ahead.

I don't predict things with my dreams, but I do have premonitions and "psychic" moments in which I "know" something I have no way of knowing. I knew when my uncle died (he was 52 and in great shape. He also lived in Delaware and I hadn't had contact with him in years.Same thing happened when my great-uncle died -- he was in Alabama. He died of a heart attack the very moment he crossed my mind. I 'knew" he was dead, and my grandfather died (actually, in this case, I "knew" the last time I saw him would be the last time I'd see him alive). I knew the missing Florida girl (who was killed by her neighbor in the same trailer park was in his yard and he'd sexually attacked her) was killed by her neighbor and that he'd sexually assaulted her and had buried her in his backyard. I've had others as well, but these were the most unnerving.

not so sure about seeing the future in your dreams, but I do get senses of Deja Vu a lot, and it may possibly have been something i dreamed at one point or another

people from the other side, rather we know them or not, communicate with us through our dreams. its as close to heaven as we can get until we die.
