The sales of canned beer have spiked and breweries are struggling to manage the shift. One of the reasons cited is the environmental factor; cans are easier to recycle. But historically the tinny taste has been named as the reason why bottles are preferred to cans. What do the cans now have that they didn't have before?

Coors employs a specially lined can (has a blue coating on the inside) that is supposed to limit the tinny taste.

Personally, I think I can taste the plastic, but maybe it's in my head.

The aluminum canning process has evolved to keep beer tasting fresher and more like draugh or bottled.
