I have 2 cats, both of them, as prescribed by the vet, get Revolution once a month, its easy and it protects from heartworm, fleas, earmites, ticks, etc, they hate me putting it on for a split second then hide for the first 10 minutes of having it on and then they are my best friend again. Its not that expensive either, I know its cheaper if you use something like petmeds.com but at the vet I got 4 months for 25 bucks each kitty.
My cats try to jump in water all the time, but the times I have tried to see if they would go in for a full bath they freaked out, so I never tried to give them a bath again, they are both indoor cats and neither have gotten fleas in my house at all.

I give my indoor cat a flea bath once every month and a half, but I would suggest using something stronger in addition to that if you really want to make sure your cat doesn't get fleas.
I just started using Revolution...it guards against fleas, heartworm, ear mites, ticks, etc, all of which can affect an indoor cat. But there are plenty of flea treatments out there, so talk to your vet about which one is best for your kitty!

Flea baths really don't work.. I talked to my vet when my indoor/outdoor cat got them.. We use Frontline all the time but ended up being two weeks late and my cat got fleas.. So i asked my vet if it would help get rid of them faster if i gave my cat a flea bath and then put Frontline on.. and she said that flea baths don't work.. they don't sell the shampoo at the vet because it doesn't work and anything you buy at a store isn't going to work. I'd advise using Frontline. It works really well. We use it on both of our dogs and cats and they never have fleas (except the one time).. That, and it doesn't dry out the skin..

Unless he manages to get into something really messy then no there is no need for an indoor cat to have a bath, at least a shorthair.. they are able to clean themselves and usually spend a lot of time doing so. A longhair cat might occasionally need a bath but make sure before bathing it to carefully comb out the hair, do not leave any tangles/ mats or they will tighten up much worse with the water.

Best thing to do is give frontline, once every three months,
What I usually do is give the frontline, and inbetween the time I give my cat the frontline and the next time I'm supposed to give it, I give her a flea bath. More for the bath then the fleas.

I never bathe my indoor cats for fleas, it does nothing to prevent them.

Use Frontline. It works like a charm and the cat will tolerate it much better than a big bath.
