That is a very valid question.
Here is another spin on it.
Lets say that you are walking around one day and some guy walks up to you. He says he is the second coming of Christ. He has some people with him and they all talk about how he is the second coming and how he has performed all sorts of miracles and done all sorts of unbelievable things. However, they do not offer you any proof other than their word. Also, the guy does not do anything in your presence. You never get to see any of these miracles. All you have are some people making claims. Would you believe this person is Christ? If not, then why should a person believe the bible is telling the truth. It does not provide anything other than claims. There is no proof of any miracles in the bible actually occuring. If you would believe this person, then you can easily find a dozen people around the world making the same claims. Do you believe them all or do you acknowledge that sometimes a person can pull off the illusion of being godly and get a large group of followers who all believe, yet that person is nothing but a mere mortal who knows some tricks and is probably a bit charasmatic?
If a god were to show up on earth, then it would be very helpful. It would give people some proof. Imagine all of the souls that could be saved if the correct god just made an appearance and showed godly powers. An all powerful god should be able to do that without any problems. Instead, there is nothing. Imagine ordering a pizza and waiting days for it to arrive. You call the place over and over and they tell you that your pizza is on the way, you just have to have faith. Guess what. 99.99% of the people would cancel the order and go with a better pizza place.
At the very least, why would Satan not take advantage of this situation? Supposedly, that bugger is causing all sorts of havoc around the world. Why does Satan not make up a new god and come to the planet and immitate that god and make believers out of billions of people and therefore sending them to hell? Its a good plan. It would work very easily. Satan supposedly has the power to pull it off. Yet it does not happen.
In the end, it all comes down to proof. If a person believes in a god but cannot produce any proof to support that belief, then that person should not expect others to believe in god(s). Remember, there is as much proof to support all of the other gods than there is to support the christian god.

Nobody dies if they see Streisand, get bored possibly but not die. Exodus 33:20, God explains no human could see His face a live.
Hard as it might be to understand, God is a higher job title than Streisand has, no matter what some assume.
Like Streisand, we have both bodies of work to admire so neither has to put in personal appearances.

Why ought to all individuals have faith something from the Bible? It replaced into written by primitive adult males who believed that the Earth replaced into flat and lined by a great reliable dome called the firmament. Why could all individuals worship the mythical god Yahweh of the Bible? He lies, cheats, and kills with impunity. yet, he says that he loves us! His mythical son Jesus is a little greater suitable, yet he needs to torture human beings perpetually. Christianity is a loss of existence cult that emphasizes what happens as quickly as we die -- no be counted if we finally end up happy perpetually or tortured perpetually. The mythical tale of Jesus' crucifixion is a terrible, sadistic tale of human sacrifice. Christians even have fun it by ceremoniously ingesting his blood and ingesting his physique. it is ritual vampirism and cannibalism. i think of that this explains many of the matters exhibited by Christians.

If He did, It would remove all free will to follow Him. People would follow Him out of fear instead of love.
He wants you to come to Him by CHOICE and not fear.
Think about it... If you knew for a FACT that God exists, would you still do bad now and then (or all the time for those that do) KNOWING for a FACT that you would suffer the consequences of those actions or would you behave out of fear?
It would be like having a camera watching your EACH AND EVERY MOVE 24 hours a day. EVERYTHING you say and do would be broadcast for all to see and hear. No different knowing for a fact that God is watching your every move.
I know in my heart that God exists but I hope he isn't watching my every move and if he is, I hope he takes it easy on me. :-)

Maybe He does, but He's a little less conspicuous about it than Babs.
Maybe it's just a matter of knowing where to look and what to look for. I bet you can say the same thing about Streisand -- lots of times she goes out for a bite low-key enough not to be noticed except by those who are really looking for her.
(That voice ... like buttah...)

He does all the time through people.
Jesus was an exceptional situation, he gave his identity to the Christ Spirit.
God lives within people, otherwise we wouldn't see some of the incredible acts of charity, love and sacrifice we have seen through the ages.
Nothing good happens that's not from God.
God is Love. We see him every single time we see people do things in service of love.

If he existed, and was a personal god, he would. Not only that, but the only way to give us a true uncoerced free will decision, would be for him to make himself known, and offer no rewards or punishments regardless of whether or not we chose to follow him.
The god of 2/3 of the world sounds more irrational and tyranical than Sadam was.

if he made public appearances people probably couldn't twist his words into whatever they want and to excuse hatred and judgement. i have a feeling a lot of higher-ups in churches would be in quite a bit of trouble!

What would be the reason? I think it would cause panic, if people really did believe it was him. He isn't supposed to show until the end......
There would be a yard sale on souls that day.
