going on a cruise in Feb,, have to get passport questions on computer, then get picture taken.

It depends what country you are a citizen of. I'll answer for the US, however.

To get a passport you need to fill out the appropriate form (see link below), get proof of citizenship (normally an official copy of your birth certificate, but it can also be a record of birth abroad to American Citizens, Naturalization papers, and expired passport or a couple other more obscure records). You also need photo identification (a drivers' license is almost always sufficient for this; military IDs and other official IDs with pictures also work), plus the pictures and the fee.

The form asks for your personal information (name, birth date and location, address history, etc.) for you and your spouse, your travel plans, and a few miscellaneous questions. It depends on whether this is your first passport or a renewal, also. The info I have put above is for someone getting a first passport.
