The DJ will usually take care of that. There's no need to stress out about it...the DJ will announce when it's time for all those important dances to take place.

The two of you should have had this schedule all planned out already!
For example -
Cocktails 5:30
Dinner 6:30 - the programme follows, then you'd be ready for the cake cutting around 8 p.m., so you could start with the first dance at around 8:30. First dance is usually husband and wife, then with parents, then the bridal party, then the family members, then everyone joins in.
You dj and mc need a schedule!

Do you have a DJ or band for the reception? If so, they will know when to do all that and will announce it so everyone can watch. Normally, the DJ or band leader announces you when you first arrive by saying "ladies and gentlemen please welcome for the first time as a married couple, Mr and Mrs. _____(insert name)". Then, that's when the first dance w/ your husband happens. And usually right after that is the father/daughter dance and mother/son dance.

you make the itinerary for the reception and give it to the DJ or your announcer...they will announce when they need the bride and father of the bride for their dance and when you get to the dance floor the music will start. It is a good idea to have an itinerary so that you can keep the dances and such going before people start leaving and get the real party started.
*Congrats! and I hope your big day is GREAT!

Usually after you eat is when you start your danceing. the order that you do it in is up to you. I saved the first dance with my hubby for last and then started the party afterwords.

if you have a dj, ask them, normally the first dance is what it says...first dance. Your dance with your father should be right after that...

Your DJ, MC, or Cordinatior should work all that stuff out with you before hand, so you know when to expect it and they then will take control and let you know on the day of.

The D.J. or band should have had that on their schedule or agreement with you. Talk to them about it.
