I love avacados but get bored eating them plain. Have you any recipes to add a bit of pazzaz to them?

Take the Avacado and slice it up, add some lemon, salt and pepper, a little bit of mayo, perhaps some chopped sliced tomato and get yerself some white corn tortilla chips. After whipping all ingrediants in a food processor for about 20 seconds until its nice and chunky...dip the chips into it and lay them out on a cookie sheet, preheat your oven to about 325 or 350, a sprinkle each whole chip with dip on top with shredded cheddar. Make sure no one else is around...cuz just one avacodo only makes about 30 chips if done correctly and you won't want to share. Love in Christ, ~J~ Oh yeah...only let cheese melt..so watch them close and don't walk off and leave'um or they'll get ruined. Don't microwave either cuz this makes the chips tough and soggy.

Make guacamole
2 ripe avocados
½ red onion, minced (about 1/2 cup)
1-2 serrano chiles, stems and seeds removed, minced
2 tablespoons cilantro leaves, finely chopped
1 tablespoon of fresh lime or lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
A dash of freshly grated black pepper
1/2 ripe tomato, seeds and pulp removed, chopped

Garnish with red radishes or jicama. Serve with tortilla chips.

1 Cut avocados in half. Remove seed. Scoop out avacado from the peel, put in a mixing bowl. (See How to Cut and Peel an Avocado.)

2 Using a fork, mash the avocado. Add the chopped onion, cilantro, lime or lemon, salt and pepper and mash some more. Chili peppers vary individually in their hotness. So, start with a half of one chili pepper and add to the guacamole to your desired degree of hotness. Be careful handling the peppers; wash your hands thoroughly after handling and do not touch your eyes or the area near your eyes with your hands for several hours.

Keep the tomatoes separate until ready to serve.

Remember that much of this is done to taste because of the variability in the fresh ingredients. Start with this recipe and adjust to your taste.

3 Cover with plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole to prevent oxidation from the air reaching it. Refrigerate until ready.

4 Just before serving, add the chopped tomato to the guacamole and mix.

I like pico de gallo with avocado.

Dice up some tomatoes, onions and chile and toss them all together. Add some lemon or lime juice to it and salt and pepper to taste. A dash of garlic salt works too. Add diced up avocado, DO NOT MASH! Leave the avocado in chunks. Toss it all lightly together and you have a great salsa. Eat with tortilla chips and enoy!

PS some people add cilantro, but ugh, I hate the stuff so I do without.

Try this:

1/2 pound cooked shrimp (find this in foil packages usually on aisle with other canned meats like chicken and tuna)
1 lime, juiced
1/2 cup canned pico de gallo
2 tbsp finely chopped cilantro leaves
1 alvocado, diced
salt and pepper

Combine shrimp, lime juice, pico de gallo, and cilantro. Add diced alvocado and toss to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Lightly salting them puts a whole new spin on their flavor. They make great ingredients in basically any kind of sandwich, wrap, burger, burrito, etc., and you can make an amazing sandwich with just a nice roll, some spiced mayo spread, a little shredded lettuce, and a whole sliced avo. Try food.com, you'll never run out of recipes.

Well, I'm not sure avocados belong in religion and spirituality although I do feel more spiritual when I eat them with chopped onion, garlic, lemon juice, chopped tomato, chopped celantro, and a dash of salt. Great dip or salad topper. Yum!

Take a little cream cheese, some finely chopped pine nuts and just a dab of salad dressing, mix them together and put it on top of the avocado. Enjoy.

mash them up with a small finely chopped onion, a clove of crushed garlic and the juice of half a lime. Optional extras could be a peeled tomato, paprika and/or chilli.

Gorgeous!

Well? Since this is R&S: Guacamole is tasty on Communion wafers, followed by a nice Chianti.
