Not really, fees are just to high on the merchants.

It really must depend on what part of the country you are in. I have absolutely no problem using my DiscoverCard. In the past 20 years, I've only encountered 2 places that didn't accept Discover. Both were small restaurants.

American Express-- Definately. AMEX is my primary card, and I dont know of anyplace that wont take it.

Discover card merchant membership actually seams to be going DOWN!

They maybe, but the difference is not major. Visa and MasterCard are accepted almost everywhere. I have both as "backup cards".
