that pretty much all other religions stories can make sense other than christianity. like most religions are able to explain where the universe came from, how humans came into creation etc but with christianity its just "he waved his hand and ------ appeared" anyone else thinking the same?

Hi, wings.

Christianity is indeed unique. As someone once said, the Christian's life is a lot like that of salmon swimming upstream: going against the tide of public (or religious) opinion. If the fish flows with the stream you know that it is dead.

Christianity sticks out like a sore thumb. It is weird, amazing, strange, mind-numbing, breath-taking - and life-giving!

Take all the religions in the world and flush them down the toilet! But give me Jesus and I shall be eternally satisfied!

Jesus is wonderful....

god bless

Most of the religions I've been exposed to (and I've done a considerable amount of research) have nonsensical or totally unintelligible creation accounts. Most established and ancient religions were products of the age in which they began/gained adherents--which was way before science offered any sort of rational explanations about these things, and most people were uneducated and ignorant anyway (don't mean that as a slam, just as fact).

Christianity only makes sense when you see it stole from pagan cults and other mystic groups or mythology

POCM introduces you to scholarship about Christianity's origins in ancient Pagan religion.

You already know Christmas trees and Easter eggs were originally Pagan, and you probably know the traditional mid-winter and spring timing of the two holidays was Pagan too. Mildly interesting. Not what you'll find here.

What you'll discover here is that Christianity inherited everything from the Pagans. The core of Christianity—the worship of a godman who brings salvation—was also the core of other ancient religions that began in the Near East two thousand years before Jesus.

Christian theology borrowed more than the myth of the saving godman. Initiation by baptism, communion with the God through a holy meal, the Holy Spirit, monotheism, and immortality of the soul all belonged many ancient faiths. They were simply part of ancient Mediterranean culture.

Christianity also borrowed elements of Jesus' mythology. Sons of God born of a mortal woman, and miracles (including turning water into wine, walking on water, and especially healing the sick) were common elements of pre-Christian Pagan religions. Mithras had 'em. So did Dionysus, Attis, Osiris, and Orpheus. And more.

And they had them centuries before Christianity was a twinkle in Saint Paul's eye.

Yes... but that is easily explained. The gaggle of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering, militant, marauding, genocidal goat-herders who made up the OT had a lot less intellectual stimulation in the ordinary course of their existence than did other folks that made stuff up.

The Bible actually cuts out a lot of the detail and back story in other religions and mythologies that make them appear more logical, at least superficially.

Do you enjoy tearing down straw men? Does it make you feel good about yourself?

I could also ask you the same kind of question, "Do you close the curtain before you sexually abuse your children?"

Both questions are stupid - mine AND yours!

If you were to bother READING the book you so desparately hate without cause, you would KNOW that's not what the Bible says!

You can find the answer in the first book of the Bible, and since my telling you the answer won't help you in the long run, I'll let you look it up and read it for yourself.

Before you go making a fool of yourself ("Thinking themselves to be wise, they became fools"), READ the Bible. It's amazing how much light the Bible throws on all them commentaries!

Don't let them do your thinking for you - study, investigate, and think for your self. "Wise men still seek him" Do YOU? (uh - you DO know what the opposite of "wise" is, don't you?)

What I find as weird, is that any sane rational thinking being, would buy in to the fairytale of the "big bang, or evolution" now that is weird.

Lets see. First there was nothing, them BOOM there was everything, just on its own. Stars, planets trees, pigs, and stupid questions like yours.

Hi and good morning....The concept of the 'Holy Book' was to allow those who believed in God the miracles that He performed in the Creation of the heavens and earth and all life. Now it's up to the individual whether to believe in this concept or not. The majority of Christians and believers alike believe that God created All things. In the Book of Genesis it describes to the reader on how the earth and heavens were created and then God created man in His own image. The Greeks however believed in their own Gods such as Zeus and Hera and Mt. Olympia. The Egyptians believed in their Gods. Each culture and race had their own beliefs in their religion and their Gods. How can one judge on these certain religions or beliefs? We as humans have the knowledge to make our own decisions on what we believe in when it comes to choices such as our religions and our God or for some Gods. To each his own. I'm a Christian and I believe in God and in His son Jesus Christ, however I do have an open-mind on certain issues that were written in the Bible. I have my own opinion and thoughts about what was written. Have a great day!

He did not wave his hand, He just say the word of creation because the word was with God and the word was God.
Got it.
