DO you know if you can protect worksheets within the workbook on excel so that others can only see certain sheets and not others

pretty sure you can't. you can only password protect a whole file, not individual sheets within a file.

You don't say what version of Excel. Firstly let's assume its 2007, latest version. Click on the Home tab, then onto the downward arrow at the side of format cells to the right of the toolbar that now appear, and then down to protection, protect worksheet. If you want to keep some cells open so that data can be put in, while formulae are protected, before you click on protect worksheet, highlight cells you want to keep open, then click on format cells, protect, unlock, then click on worksheet protection.
If you have 2002 or 2003, again its a two-pronged process per worksheet. Highlight the cells you want to keep open to enter data into, up to Format on toolbar, or right button of mouse, format cells, Protection, and select unlock cells. Then go to Tools, Protection, Sheet and all your formulae are protected but people can enter data. In both cases, if you want the whole worksheet protected, don't bother unlocking any of the cells.

Yes there are 2 ways. First you can use the tool bar at the top click on the tools tab and select protect option. This may be slightly different depending upon the version of excell installed on your computer.
A second way is go to the page you want to protect. Right click on square A1 and drag down to select all cells on the page you want protected. now password protect all the selected cells like you would protect a single cell.

Go to Tools>Protection>Protect Sheets. There will be other options here for you as well, Workbook, Protect and Share, Etc. After clicking a dialog box will appear prompting for a password and will ask you what you want to protect and what you want to allow. You can allow users to copy locked cells, but not edit them.

(In 2003, oddly enough, they allow you to unlock a cell, but block its use in the aforementioned dialog? Go figure.)

If you wish the user to be able to interact with your spreadsheet, select the cells that you would like to give access to for user interface. Right click on the cell(s) and select Format Cells. Go to the Protection tab and unlock the cells by unchecking the "Locked" checkbox. When you password protect the sheet they will be able to interact with unlocked cells only.(If you allow them to, Weird.)

You can set up the sheets you don't want viewed by hiding all columns and then password protecting the sheet.
Then you give the password to anyone who needs to see those sheets.
An alternative is to create a macro which passes unprotects the sheet and also unhides the hidden columns with a second macro the hides and reprotects them. These macros can be set to run from a hotkey combination.

To my knowledge you can password protect the whole workbook but not select pages.

You can copy the select page into another workbook and save it under a different name if you wish.
