Because there is strong evidence of global warming on Mars. . .

And Neptune . . .

Are the evil oil companies in cahoots with the aliens to cause global warming in the solar system?

Or maybe it has to do with high activity of fussion reaction we call The Sun? HMM

SO HOW SETTLED IS THAT SCIENCE???

You could show the alarmists mountains of peer reviewed evidence of solar/climate correlations and you will never be able to convince them. They are under intense pressure to get some legislation passed quickly on climate change, before the earth becomes noticeably cooler over the next decade, and their cause evaporates.

So Mars is warming, so what? Some planets in the solar system are warming, some are cooling, some are showing no trend at all. If the warming on Mars and Earth where connected (as in, the sun), we should expect to see a trend in the rest of the solar system as well. The changes on all these planets have distinct causes that have nothing to do with the warming here on Earth.

Of course, since the only connecting thread between Mars and the Earth is the sun, if the warming on the two planets were connected it would have to be due to changes in solar output. However, the sun hasn't shown any trends since at least 1978, and possibly 1940. There's very little chance it could be the cause of the change at all.

Extremely settled. There is overwhelming proof this is not the Sun.

All the planets are not warming, just a few, for different reasons. On Mars, the NASA scientists who measured warming on Mars say that there it's massive dust storms unique to Mars.

http://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/research/2007/marswarming.html

The Sun is routinely measured by hundreds of scientists. They see no changes sufficient to cause the present warming.

Recently solar radiation has been decreasing (just a little) as temperature has been increasing on Earth.

"Recent oppositely directed trends in solar
climate forcings and the global mean surface
air temperature", Lockwood, Frolich, Proc. R. Soc. A doi:10.1098/rspa.2007.1880

The above (and much more) shows that theories that this is the sun don't work numerically (quantitatively). Science is all about the numbers. And so, this IS settled.

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, QUANTITATIVE arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

You really need to start reading REAL science, instead of the junk.

NO scientist ever suggested that tere arenot natural causes to global warming--but thosepossible causes have all been studied --and are NOT major factors on Earth. Our current global warming is caused by human action--so get over it.

BTW: this is just one more example of how pathetically ignorant the so-called "skeptics" are. They quack about Mars and Neptune--and claim that "proves" solar radiation mus tbe responsible. Except--if that were the case, ALL bodies in the solar system would be getting warmer. And tey aren't. But a simple but obvious check on their assumptions like that is beyond their limited mentalities. Pathetic.

There are currently no SUV's on Mars, but I like the way you're thinking. Deducing the possible existence of SUV's, and the intimate involvement of conspirational conglomerates, based on questionable evidence of an unproved phenomenon, on a planet no-one has ever been to, is definitely the future perfect!

Don't know, sounds like a good place for them thought, not necessarily for environmental issues, I'm just sick of being stuck behind them and not being able to see the road ahead as some selfish soccermom wants to protect her "little angels" at everyone else's risk.

You're confusing the normal weather cycles of other planets with a man made phenomenon. I may be wrong, and you may be right about the SUV's, I just don't think so.

Of course there are no SUV's on Mars.

The SUV's here on Earth are so damaging that they pollute the Solar System. This is why there is global warming on other planets.

We need to get rid of our SUV's here to protect the ice caps on Mars.
