Is it because all things are temporary, and it is an attachment to the world?

Lust itself can't be sin. Acting upon lust in such a way, so as to break religious laws or to harm others is a sin.
Desciplined fulfilment of lust is not sin in contradiction to uncontrolled fulfilment of lust

Because lust is the most basic human drive we have. Everybody feels lust. So, if lust is made a sin, then EVERYONE has frequent reminders that they are sinners.

This makes it easy for religions that promise salvation to gain adherents. "You are lustful, you are a sinner. WE'VE got the salvation you NEED!"

I'm not saying this was a conscious decision on the part of any religious people. IT's just that a religion that teaches that lust is a sin is more likely to thrive than a relgion that doesn't.

Honestly I think that most Christians misunderstand what the word sin means...it means to 'miss the mark'. So....lust is considered a sin because the intention of the Christian G-d is that sex be with someone you lover rather than some random person. It is not so much as committing a crime as it is missing the point.

Because lust (or coveting) is the thought that leads to sinful actions. If everyone controlled their lusts and desires for physicality, just think how much less crime and evil would exist in the world.

Lust itself is not so bad. But lust can be used to take advantage of people...to steal from people....
Lust has many good things about it. But it is often used by the unscrupulous to take advantage of people and hurt people.
For example: in the Bible, a woman wants John the Baptist to be killed....so she gets her young daughter to do an erotic dance for the king, whose lust for the girl is taken advantage of...he agrees to kill John the Baptist.

lust is a sin because it distorts God's holy design for sex. The enemy offers us lust and when we indulge, we never find ourselves satisfied because lust is never satisfied.

God wants us to conform to his design for sex so that we can appreciate our sexuality the way He designed it.

I suggest you read "Not even a Hint" by Joshua Harris. It is a good book about sexuality.

Well here are some passages if scripture to best give you an answer. Proverbs 6:25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes. James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Doesn't get any more simple than that now does it?

Because the parts of religion, at least Abrahamic Monotheism, that are not exploiting a fear of death, are really concerned with social control!
If you can be made to feel insecure regarding your most primary impulse-to have sex, to spread your DNA, to reproduce, then you become much easier to control!
You can be manipulated in so many ways, giving up your money to the same tyrant telling you what to do sexually, sacrificing your life because you believe you'll go straight to heaven as a martyr, and it just goes on!
Your insecurity regarding sex is what religion attempts to exploit and control so you yourself can be exploited and controlled.
Extreme example- the Male Branch Davidian's defending the Waco compound in 1993 gave David Koresh everything-their wives, their daughters, their money, their lives because they believed he was Jesus Christ! He made them feel guilty and ashamed about having SEX WITH THEIR WIVES and manipulated them into being soldiers and corpses!

Originally it was just lusting after your neighbor's wife, but the definition of sin tends to expand to include everything.

you sound like a pundit who is not asking a question, but stating a doctrine and dogma

there is no sin, and I or others will never submit to another while I have my free will and it's protected by Law
