people, especially in developed countries, have the
dream of being self-sufficient from God - it is very
futile and a lack of wise judgment about the universe
and mystery of life. I am glad that I know the Lord
in my heart in this day and age.
Good question.

I went and looked at the question you are refering to...the anger you experienced in response to it was because of the way you worded the question - any time you tell people you "feel sorry" for them or use the term "pathetic" your going to ensure the focus is lost on the question and redirected in anger towards you...
I understand you were trying to find out how non-believers fulfill their lives, fears, etc when they don't use GOD to do it - but it came off unfocused and aggressive towards them....
To answer your final question - NO there is nothing wrong with believing and saying so - the problem comes in that A: most people tend to preach when doing so and B: non-believes are tired of being prosecuted, put down, and belittled by believers....You'd be hard pressed to find a believer that hasn't at least once tried to convert a non-believer or you hasn't at least once given off the aire that they were better becasue they believed...just the fact that believers think they will go to Heaven and non-belivers won't makes them seem snotty and rude...
Non-believers of Christian and Catholic gods do NOT care that you believe and for the most part are quite happy you do - to each their own - but much like Moses tried to lead his people to freedom and away from prosecution of their believes....non-believers want the same right.
As long as you feel fulfilled in your life and in your beliefs (provided they harm no one) then do not concern yourself with the beliefs of others or their prejudisim...Ultimatly you are the only one you have to answer for...

. is it that wrong to belive there is a god and saying it out loud

Only if you are a Chrisitan. but thats ok, just remember Paul wrote that there will be a "great falling away from the faith" Jesus taught that "they hate me, therefore they will hate you as well. Todays world at least in the US, and Eroupe just help to reinforce the truth of God's word. They will worship the creation, but not the creator, is this not so true? Look at your radical enviromentalist,

Be of Good cheer< all signs point that the end is near.

Each person was created by God and for God and in the image of God. In the beginning, sin put a wall between us and our Creator. Jesus came to remove those walls so that we could be reconciled to God. As Christians, He is our peace. By Christ's death He swallowed up our anger and resentment and made us "one" body. Non-believer's are self-absorbed and naturally very angry people because they do not have peace with God. They are a shattered people, being thrown about by the winds of liberalism while denying Truth, resulting in seared consciences.

Oh, I know! It's terrible to think that many are out there without accepting Christ as their savior and to get so rude about it! And I know what you mean about being labeled "judgmental"! Seems a Christian can't pose a question or answer truthfully with an opinion without being called judgmental, yet the atheists can be as rude as they want. I really feel sorry for them and we have to keep witnessing and praying for them. You and I know it is the work of satan trying to get others to denounce God and no matter what they say, it is satan controlling their decision and lives! Blessings!

I'm a Believer, just not of any Abrahambic faith.

It's called "Free Will", it's called "Respecting other Religions".

As much as I teach my Daughter how to shoe respect towards other religions, I seldom expect the Bigots in all groups (social, spiritual, political, racial, sexual (etc)) to return any respect.

Shame really

How atheists live their lives? By deciding moral issues on rational grounds. It is reasonable to want to help your neighbors, because then you are promoting the idea of cooperation. Living in a nice place is good; therefore helping to make it nice is reasonable. Honesty and responsibility are values which are effective, making for a better life. Honesty really is the best policy, because it means people can trust you, and you have better business relations as well as personal relations.

And so it goes through all the moral decisions of life: it is not based on reward and punishment as in heaven and hell, but in effective results in improving our conditions.

Hitch, you've hit a nerve. I've told my children before and now I'll ask you to keep this in mind throughout your life, too. It's not popular to be Christian; a true believer whom is unfaltering in your faith. You don't compromise your values in this world because you know you were not made for this world. God has us here for only a little while and if you feel out of place here, it's only because you are. Don't rest here, don't feel you need to fit in. Revel in their discomfort for you have hit a nerve! Don't insult and don't bash. Christ's directive is to love your neighbor as yourself. We are ALL God's children. Some of us just strayed a little farther out into this world. That's all. Continue to shout about God at the top of your lungs! He is worthy and He deserves your praise.

How many people did not get "mad?" I wonder whether you might be focusing on those who did because they support your point of view.
