I want to prove that something can travel at the speed of light


So i going to get a doll and hook it up to my thing and on the other side of the thing is a light switch when i turn the light switch the light bulb lights up and the doll moves to the other side and back of the sqare

A small black hole might work.....

The reason things can't move as fast as light is because of mass. If the object has any mass, it increases as the speed of light is approached. This means more force has to be applied to accelerate the object. The object never achieves light speed because it would be infinitly massive and an infinite amount of force would have to be applied to it.

Light travels at the speed of light because the particles have no mass. One other consequence of Einstein's theory of relativity is that moving objects create their own timeframe. The faster something travels, the more the time frame shifts.

This was proved by measuring cosmic rays. Certain subatomic particles decay in less than a millionth of a second. They are only produced either in outer space or in a labratory. They are massless and travel at the speed of light. They decay so quickly, they have no chance of reaching the earth's surface; however, they can be detected on earth. This is because of the shift in the time frame. At the speed of light, time effectivly stops, relative to a stationary observer.

Your experiment might be an attempt to detect these cosmic rays. However, I suspect you might need an advanced degree in physics, a spare warehouse and half a billion dollars in government grants.

Good luck, I don't know what you could use to propel anything to the speed of light nor how you would measure it in the relatively short distance of an Earth bound experiment.
