Hi and good morning....Very good question...makes one think...lol. I'm a Christian born and raised but I do have an open-mind on what was written in the Holy Book. I feel that one needs to 'think' realistically on some of what was written. Now I'm not saying that what was written is false, I'm saying I have my own thoughts and views on certain issues in the Bible. For instance, in the Book of Genesis it states that God created the earth and heavens in 6 days and rested on the seventh day to keep it 'Holy'. So actually God created the world in 6 days according to the Bible. My question is 'What was time, back when the world was created"? Was time considered a 24 hr. time frame or could time have been measured differently when earth was created. We don't know nor will we have that questioned answered. Six days could have been measured as 6 months or 6 years or 6 hundred years we don't actually know except for what the Bible tells us. God is the actual author of the 'Holy Book', He inspired those certain individuals (man) to write His book for Him. We the readers or (Christians) assume that the heavens and earth were created in 6 days because it was written. Those that believe in the Bible will take it to heart others will have the scientific concept on how the earth was created. It's how one believes as an individual or as a Christian and a follower of God. Have a blessed day!

Not all Christians believe this. If God had wanted to, he could have made the whole universe in less than one second. If he is all powerful than he would have no time constraints. The Creation story is a beautiful story meant to teach the Love God has for his people and world, not to teach about the actual beginnings of the planet. Most well -versed biblical scholars agree with this teaching.
Another aspect is that a day to God may not be the same as a day to humans. Again, God is not constrained by time like humans are.
So the world was likely not made in 7 days but that is not the real issue. The real issue is how was the world made and the answer is by God! Peace.

It depends what kind of days you are talking about. We say six days because the Bible says six days. On the seventh God rested, noth because He was tired but to look at what He had made. You all ask questions which have no relevence at all. God did this on purpose so that those who would not have faith would not be saved. You are using your feeble minds to try and understand how the Most Powerful Being in the universe created the heavens and the earth. You will never find the answer to your question.

Most of the Bible is literal except when it says it is not. The question you should be asking is "How long were those days?"
Only the mentally poor believe they had to be 24 hour days. That is only for earth days. What about before there was an earth? Or other places in the universe besides "on earth"? Even on earth, we refer to "back in my day" as longer than 24 hours.
Also, what about between those days? The Bible describes the end of one day, then , the beginning of another. How much time passed between the Creative Days? When a craftsman builds something, he does not count time for drying, heating, or cooling.

genuine, and this could properly be a hotly debated question interior the Christian community. the biggest question is "whilst replaced into God speaking actually and whilst replaced into He speaking metaphorically?" it is sparkling He does the two interior the Bible and discerning that's that could each sometimes be complicated. although, maximum Christians do not purely persist with lock-step with what somebody else tells them the Bible says. They study it on their very own besides. So ultimately it is because of the fact there are a number of stuff interior the Bible which would be complicated, and there are issues that are actually not meant to be interpreted actually. it is why Christians have many diverse ideals approximately some matters such because of the fact the creation of the Earth. Edit: the fundamental issues interior the Bible are fantastically plenty agreed upon via all Christians: Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Jesus is the only thank you to Heaven, etc. etc. there are a lot of differing comments on some issues interior the Bible. however the overpowering majority has a similar opinion on the fundamental decide for of Christ, His dying for us on the pass, and our decide for for salvation.

The Hebrew word translated as "day" can mean a day, a year or an unspecified period of time.
Obviously if God created the entire Universe then he could produce it in an instant, or a week, or he could let it evolve over millions or even billions of years if he wanted it to age naturaly.
None of these would be inconsistent with the Genesis account - so there really doesn't seem to be a problem.

The Bible is not a science book. It simply states what happened by revealed knowledge, or eye witness account.
You either believe it or you don't. However, thinking Christians try to dig out the the facts and make it consistent with logic, but often times the Bible version defies logic...thus we rely on faith.

Funny the bits that are taken as literal.
(6 days despite evidence, lots of it, to the contrary)
And the bits that are ignored by the same people insisting on a literal translation of the Bible.
Murdering your family if they do not believe.
Stoning to death disobedient children.
Baking S H I T into your barley cakes for absolution of your sins.
Not approaching women during their period.
etc, etc, ad nauseum.
Don't ignore that and then tell me I have to take this genocidal book literally with no evidence presented at all!
