That poor dog.

Maybe you should think about letting someone else take care of him while you work on your anger issue.

Or, if you feel the urge coming to "hit him" again, just stop and walk away.. take a deep breath. Hit a wall. Hit pillow. Hit the bed. Hit the sofa. But never, ever hit or yell at your poor dog. He's probably pretty afraid of you now so I'd just give him lots of love, hugs, cuddles and pets. Talk to him in a calm, gentle, soothing voice until you completely regain his trust again.

But never, ever, ever hit the poor dog.

First and foremost, you should have never hit your dog. You call that really, really loving your dog? I don't think so!!! That's not love, that's called being cruel and abusive! He doesn't deserve to be abused, no matter what he does. No animal does!!! Have you ever heard about training him, the proper way? Unless you properly train him, without abusing him, he's not going to automatically figure out, what's wrong or right, by himself. He needs to be taught, without abuse. Dogs are not, nor will they ever be stupid. If you have anger problems, you should not own a dog or any animal for that matter! You don't deserve the unconditional love and companionship they give! You should be ashamed of yourself! What you should do with your dog is, find someone that will love, train, and care for it, the way it deserves to be. I'll bet this isn't the first time you've hit your dog either! Poor thing, is probably scared to death of you! Do your dog a big favor, and give it a chance at living the happy life it deserves, with a family that knows how to give it. Give him to a rescue organization, and they will find him the proper home, and PLEASE don't get another animal, until your anger issues are under control. It's not right or fair to the innocent animal! Don't ever take your anger out on an innocent animal! Remember that one day, when your anger takes over, you are going to, lose control again and hit that dog so hard, that you will do permanent damage and possibly kill him. Give him up, before it's too late!!! STOP ANIMAL ABUSE!!! Get yourself a shrink!!!

Look, hitting a dog is never okay. Never hit your dog in the face, mouth or hind end. I know how that whole anger thing goes...my dog can be a sweet genius in one moment, and a total jerk the next. The shrink idea is good, but you need to realise and REALLY think about the damage you are doing to your dog mentally and physically. Next time your dog ticks you off, walk away for a second and think that how would it be if someone smacked you everytime you said a stupid joke or was just plain ole sick?

If you have serious anger problems like that I would suggest that you find you pup a new home. A good, loving home where someone will actually be patient with the dog and spend the time, energy and effort that it takes to properly raise, train and socialize the dog. Dogs are a lifetime of work, it's like having a young child for years and years, and you cannot just hit your dog! Please find that poor thing a good, loving home with a good, responsible, caring owner so he can have the good life that he deserves, and get some help with your anger problems. Good luck!

Get help for your anger issues and find a new home for your dog! And before you ever decide to have another pet, take some time to learn about what it takes to be a responsible pet owner. Just because the things he does don't make sense to you, doesn't mean he is stupid. It just means you don't understand him. Read some books on dog pyschology and behavior. Talk to some professionals like a vet or a professional dog trainer or behaviorist. Please do the research and please deal with your anger and don't take your issues out on your dog. He deserves your love, patience and understanding. He is not your target for venting your anger.

Hitting her only make her behaviour problems worse. I mean, this is not a matter of humane treatment only, hitting her gives you the opposite results than you want in dog discipline.
When she does sth. wrong, just ignore her, stand still or generally show her that you won't play with her (like put her in another room, tie her up, etc.).
But mostly, try to solve your own problems. Having a dog is aresponsibility, like having a child, if you can't control yourself you can't control the dog and you shouldn't have it.
Find a good dog behaviourist and a human behaviourist, and attend both sessions together with your dog.

You MUST find your dog a new home. Somebody that will be caring and devoted.
Consulting a shrink or not is your own problem, but an innocent dog suffering is a crime.

dont hit him,he is the most loyal trusting friend you will ever have, and he gives you unconditional love, if you dont want that and you want a frightened untrusting jumpy animal then pls give him to someone who will love him back.Pls get your anger problems sorted out, this time it was a dog, next time you could be adding to the domestic violence stats, if you hit your partner or child, is that what you want for your future?
