I had a boss do that to me once. He came in my office and started yelling and I stood up and leaned across my desk, in his face, and very calmly told him HE was the one responsible for the mess he was yelling about, not ME. He shut his mouth, turned around and walked out. I straightened out HIS mess and got a good little raise a couple of days later. That is the one and only time anything like that has ever happened.

That's terribly humiliating. I'd confront the boss and tell him/her that I don't appreciate being reprimanded in front of my peers and that, if he/she has a problem, to talk to you about it behind closed doors. If that falls on deaf ears, yes, I'd take it to HR or look for a new job -- nothing is worth someone debasing my self esteem.

So sad that there are some people who lack the most basic etiquette when it comes to treating their employees. That's partly why labor boards exist.

Well since I don't put up with people yelling at me then I would say loudly enough for everyone to hear "If I've done something wrong then by all means tell me but don't yell at me in front of others."

My ex-boss did that to me before. (He was the owner of the company, so there was no HR department). He was yelling and told me to shut-up, because I couldn't fix a toilet. I worked in Accounts Receivable, so that wasn't part of my job description. I waited until he finished his rant and called him in my office. I let him know that I will not tolerate being yelled at or being told to shut-up. He never yelled at me again or disrespected me again. But, he would the other employees because they would allow that treatment. Good luck. 2D

it depends on where you work. i fits Mcdonalds then deal with it. Look at the fools that all work there. like that would make you LOOK bad. but if you work in a big city highrise for a great company and the boss yelled at you? then deal with it too since you need a job to pay for your high priced items that you have prob already bought due to having the nice high paying job.

if your in between that, then report his ****.

Contact HR if you're in the administration or management end of the business or if you're a hourly employee contact your union shop steward or local labour board rep. That'll settle the bastard!

I would report him to his boss for intimidating and bullying behaviour.

Fortunately I have a good boss.
