It's sad that this type of ignorant thing is preached by those who abuse their influence, and then blindly accepted by those who don't do their own research, and then handed down to the next generation as something you HAVE to believe, or else you are not a good (insert religion here).
I can respect anyone's belief who's actually done real research on an issue--which means listening to BOTH sides--but it's hard to respect someone who just mouths things they've been spoon-fed by someone else.
Looking into the truth of things on your own is NOT heresy!

Dinosaur bones are displayed in museums all over the world, but some people have believed and told their children that dinosaurs don’t fit with the Bible and so they must be a big hoax designed to convince people of evolution.
While denying their existence may seem like a quick and simple way to avoid the topic, this response is going to prove to be hard to swallow as people come in contact with the evidence.
The thing is, dinosaurs fossils have been found on all seven continents—from North America to Antarctica. Their traces are even found on a few isolated oceanic islands. We have found the remains of their bones, eggs, footprints, and even some imprints from their skin.
There can be no doubt about it, dinosaurs really did exist. The evidence for their existence is too overwhelming. An honest investigation indicates that dinosaurs definitely roamed this earth.
That said, there is plenty of evidence of man and dinosaurs living contemporaneously.

I would give her a copy of "Dinosaur Heresies" by Dr. Robert Bakker. He's a world-renowned paleontologist who's related to religious fundamentalists (I know him), and the title came in part from his discussions with them. The heretics in his book are the first scientists who attempted to explain the large fossil skeletons that had been found, but the overtones are aimed at those people who interpret the Bible literally.

I had a coworker who believed that dinosaurs didn't exist because they aren't mentioned in the bible. And this is a woman with a biology degree. A niece of mine had a science teacher who believed that dinosaurs and humans coexisted until the great flood.
Education doesn't necessarily bring thought along with it.

I beleive the Bible but it does not erase the fact that we have dinosaur fossils. Respect your aunt even if she is off track.

Dinosaurs are mentioned in God’s Word:
Job Chapter 40:15-18
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

Where can she point to in Scripture backing up her statement? I've not seen it. Surely she had a further biblical explanation?

Yes, I agree, but also consider it to be really sad as well. It's very similar to still believing that the earth is flat.

Well, they have to give some coherence to their beliefs when they are confronted with empirical data...
But your story made all of us laugh too...
