I assume Xians would have said something like "Christianity is a relationship with god, not a religion."

By classical definitions Christianity and Islam are both considered religions, even if they believe that a personal relationship is involved.

The word 'deen' is the arabic equivalent of what you might call 'religion'.

But I think theres a slight difference between what the Quran says and what we as humans understand from the word 'religion'.

The Quran calls Islaam the true 'deen'.

Deen here, refers to a path. In fact, a completely different way of life.

Seing as that may be, you need to understand that deen is a word that encompasses these things: spirituality, morality, ethics, philosophy, psychology, and religion, the relationship of man with all things, the relationship of man with him/herself, and the relationship of man with the Creator.

Thus, my answer would be a yes, it is a religion, but its more than that. It is a way of life.

Hope that helped.

Islam is obviously a cult. Their founder had visions from satan, he committed genocide (of the Banu Qurayza) and was a child molesting pedophile rapist (poor little Aisha)
