She has done this for a while now. But last night she would stop for about 10 seconds, when she came out of it she somewhat snorted and when to sleeping normally. 3 breaths later the same thing. She was sleeping on her back. We rolled her onto her side and it didn't happen again.
A couple of years ago she did this,I shook the living crap out of her and she didn't budge. After last night I am concerned about sleep apnea. She is 5 years old. Any parents experience these symptoms in their child?
My hubby had his adenoids taken out in infancy(he went blue when sleeping and limp)is it something that is hereditary?
thanks for reading.

My grand daughter did the same thing, mom and dad was out of town and I let her sleep with me, she stop breathing, I listen all night because I was afraid she would not wake up. I called my daughter and she called the doctor to see her the day she got home. They told her , that she had caught it in time, they took her adenoids out and she is fine now. Not sure if its hereditary, because neither of her parents have had that problem. I would get it taken care of ASAP, and thank God you caught it in time.

Sleep Apnea.
It can be treated in various ways.... But, it is only dangerous if the loss of breathing goes on for more than 30 seconds at a time. Mostly, it is a "quality of life" issue since people with sleep apnea often feel tired all the time.
As far as I know, it is not hereditary.

Most things are linked to heredity. They are finding more and more the more studies done. I would say yes, it is hereditary just like most other things. Some sleep problems are hereditary, I know, so I figure the same goes for sleep apnea as well. You may want to check on her getting help before something goes terribly wrong. Many Americans suffer from this. My husband does the same thing, and it scares me silly, but it is not quite that bad. She needs to get checked as soon as possible. She could be taking after your husband, and may have to have the same operation. I wish you the best. For more information, try this site...

that's called sleep apnea and he or she needs to work out a Dr today away. some sleep apnea's are possibility loose besides the fact that it is totally risky because of the fact the suggestions doesnt get adequate oxygen. My pals son has it and has to work out a speacialist and used to have oxygen while he slept and a visual show unit to degree his blood rigidity, respiration and coronary heart fee. additionally for the time of his naps she has to wake him while he stops respiration to make him breathe returned. His is a very severe case because it happens like various minute or so, so is very risky. yet he's 5 now and besides the reality that he nonetheless has it it is no longer incredibly as undesirable now and so does not decide for the oxygen and visual show unit. I dont decide for to scare you purely illustrate how severe that's. And the importance of taking her to the Dr. So please see a Dr, and that i wish she is very nicely and easily has a mushy form of it or is something to no longer be apprehensive approximately. terrific luck and desires.

neighbor's child ... they had to have her adenoids removed... the child's breathing was so bad they said less than 25 % of her breathing passage was open and working as she slept... child was always tired in the morning and didn't want to get up for school or even to play in summer.... now, she's dandy... this got my son looking at HIS little one, age 8 and they found her with the same sort of problems, tho not so bad.... son has breathing problems in sleep, too... and surgery was suggested for him as well....
I'm very glad you're going to see the doc.... remember, when they're standing up, it's one thing.... when they're lying down and sleeping it's a whole 'nother animal.... insist on a THOROUGH exam and sleep tests , too.....
