Go back to the pet section where you work and buy some flea shampoo and give her a bath. If they have powdered Sevin in the yard section, buy some of that, too. Then vacuum the whole house, especially along the baseboards, the couch and chairs and doggy bed if she has one.
Sprinkle a little Sevin lightly on the carpet and let it sit for 15 minutes before vacuuming. That will help kill fleas in the carpet and the Sevin in the bag will kill any fleas you vacuum up. As soon as you finish running the sweeper, immediately throw the bag in the trash outside (not in the house).
Buy liquid Sevin that attaches to your hose and spray your backyard well with that, especially up near the house and all around the house. Sevin will not hurt children or pets and is something you can use once a month to keep the flea population (and other bugs) at bay.
Take Sadie to the vet and buy Revolution and apply it once a month (mark your calendar with the stickers that come with it so you don't forget). It is a little expensive but it kills fleas, flea eggs, ear mites and tape worms. Once they have done a blood test and Sadie comes back "clean", it will also keep heartworm at bay.
The heartworm can destroy the heart so it's important to keep her on this year round. I found a stray dog one time and had to have him treated for heartworm but he died 3 or 4 years later because there was more damage than we realized and one day his heart gave out on him.
Flea collars are ok but I never found them all that beneficial. I sprinkle the powdered Sevin on my dogs if they need it, starting around the ears so the fleas don't go in the ear canal, and then follow from the neck down, concentrating on the hind parts where they especially love to bite them.
But, if you keep your yard treated and use the Revolution every month, you won't have to sprinkle them with Sevin but you can use the powder lightly on your carpet and then vacuum about 15 minutes later if you feel the need to.
Take care of your baby :)

Advantix...It's an ampoule that you can find at the pet shop.
That's against fleas, ticks and even flies.
A good shampoo will fine too as a complimentary product.
My veterinarian doctor says you need to change the product brand and use for example Advantix the first time, then Frontline and then Advantix again or so because if not the fleas with create resistance if you keep using only one product.

The only thing that really works are Frontline or Advantage - often sold by vets but available online at Doctors Foster and Smith website much cheaper. Don't buy it on e-Bay - I've heard of some fake product scams there. Nothing else comes anywhere close to working as well - all the pet store bombs, sprays, shampoos, dips and collars are junk and don't work and are actually more toxic to your dog.

First bath him in Joy dish soap, allowing the dog to soak for about 10 minutes. This will drown all the fleas on him.
After that, I use Bio Spot which is an otc topical. It works just as well as the the stuff that the vets sell.
His bedding will have flea eggs which will be hatching for the next 3 weeks, to that and anywhere he has been will also need to be treated.

Here some steps to get rid of fleas and to prevent any future infestation
buy some cheap dog shampoo, and wash them with this first to remove and dirt or film on the body and coat. this will help remove fleas and anything that might contaminte the flea and tick shampoo, do this will help make the flea and tick shampoo be more effective
now one done, now wash them with Flea and tick shampoo
allow it to stay a little longer than the recommended time, note all flea and tick shampoos are most effective while on the dog and will the dog is still wet
Ok, now once your dog is totally dry, go to walmart and get some 5% Sevin dust (not Granulates) and dust your entire dog, anything more than 5% can irrate that skin, once dusted this will help to back off fleas and tick, not only it will dry out ticks back off chiggers mite common tick deer ticks blue ticks, and will help to to eliminate fleas from nesting and infesting
I use 5% sevin on my dogs once a week very rarely do i see them scratch or a flea jump on me when my dogs are laying beside me, in most case its getting away from the sevin dust
hope this helps some

Pet shop. A flea bath and then powder in beds and where the dog sleeps. You can buy a liquid you put on the dogs neck between the shoulder blades. If still unsure, go to the vet! :)

I sprinkle "Garlic Powder in both my dogs food, at first they wouldn't eat, but they finally figured out that I wasn't giving anything else and they started eating it. and I use heartguard for heartworms
No chemicles for me!
EXCEPT the flea shampoo which is "Adams flea and tick shampoo used ONLY twice a week
and Adams flea and tick spray to spray carpets, bedding.

Bronco Flea and Tick remover. We moved into a new apartment by the woods, within 2 weeks our shetland sheepdog was infested. We bathed him with this Bronco Flea and Tick and seriously the fleas were falling off him dead. It killed them on contact. It works wonders!
