big boy underwear, he wanted to wear them soo bad
we also gave him a sticker to go on a potty chart that we made each time he peed or pooped, we also tried the treats route, all worked
what worked best was big boy underwear he hated feeling wet, use only when at home and take the child potty once an hour

I made a chart out of posterboard and some funny face puff balls with velcro. I bought a box and filled it full of little stuff like stickers, mini playdoh, bracelets, rings, etc.. When they peed in potty got 1 puff ball, 2 for going poo. If at the end of the day they had 10 puff balls they got to get in the treasure box. Instead of removing them all and starting over the next day all they had to work on was keeping their puff balls. 1 accident a day was forgiven but if they peed themselves I said"uh oh" went to the chart and took one puff ball down and said"now we have to earn him back" did 2 if it was a poop accident. By doing it this way it worked better than starting over because at such a young age earning all 10 can feel like a mountain to climb. Keeping them was easier. We also at first did a gooofy potty dance when they went in the potty so we made potty time fun.

I have twins, so I bought one potty chair, if one didn't want to sit, his brother would, so they would end up fighting for the right to be first on the potty chair. I also had a chair that played music when they "tinkled" which made them want to go. Taking them to the store with me to pick out big boy underpants seemed to help them understand that they had to use the potty to wear them. And at first going to the bathroom was an event. I stayed in the bathroom with them, read them stories, and talked to them about anything they wanted to talk about, (even their favorite TV show Mr. Rogers!!)
If you make potty training fun for your child, it will go much easier for you.

i am currently toilet training my two yr old and the only thing that has worked for him is a sticker chart. he gets a star everytime he goes potty and gets two if it was his idea to go. and we work towards a goal. say once he gets ten stickers he gets to do finger paintin/ make play dough etc. then once he gets 50 stars he gets a dvd or special treat. all i can reccomend is if you are excited about it your toddler will find it exciting too and waant to learn.

I bought him big boy underwear and told him his cousin gave them to him. He could wear them if he would use the big boy toilet. Somehow I got lucky and it worked. The same day he started using the toilet and has had 3 or 4 accidents since and it has been 4 months. He thought it was awesome to wear his cousins underwear. I also tell him if he goes on the big boy toilet his muscles get bigger. He thinks it is great. Good Luck

With my son I used a sticker chart that was taped to the bathroom door. Every time he went he got to put a sticker on.
With my daughter I used raisins. I told her they were candy and she really thought she was getting candy.

when my son was potty training I would keep asking him about every 25 to 40 min if he had to go which wasn't so bad. what was bad was his aim, so one day I got a little cup and put about 6 pieces of Cherri-o's in it. I put 2 pieces in the toilet and told him to hit the Cherri-o's, well he got such a kick out of it, now when he has to go he yells mom get the Cherri-o's.
