Not trying to persuade anyone of evolutions or dinosaurs existing. Just thought the artical was interesting.

Dinosaurs have everything to do with religion since we have these gigantic bones showing up all over the earth and no way to know where they came from. Maybe the animals were left outside of the ark ??

Sorry bout the misconception. I never knew about the astroid being known to have killed dinosaurs. I just wanted to hear opinions on the artical and theory it mentions.

Uh...no they didnt. That has been known for a long time.

That story says that they found out WHERE the asteroid come from...which was from a collision in the asteroid belt that created debris that eventually slammed into the earth.

The asteroid that destroyed most life on earth created a crater off the coast of the Yucatan peninsula and was named Chicxulub Crater. Named for the nearby town of Chicxulub.

This was discovered in 1978.

In the early 1990s, it was identified to be the event that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs.

298 Baptistina was another asteroid that hit elsewhere and was very small. This news story states that the same thing that caused the Baptistina asteroid to hit the earth, was the same thing that caused the "Chicxulub Asteroid" to hit. This was a collision in the asteroid belt that pushed these asteroids toward the earth. The slower travelling, smaller asteroids are still hitting the Earth today.

I can not believe that people still dont realize that the dinosaurs being driven to extinction by the Chicxulub asteroid is old news.

Did you hear that Elvis died, too?

I've known for decades the theory that 65 million years ago a large asteroid hit the earth and caused climate changes that led to mass extinctions., but I didn't know the part about the source of the asteroid being "A collision 160 million years ago of two asteroids orbiting between Mars and Jupiter sent many big rock chunks hurtling toward Earth".

Anyhow, while it's entirely possible that such an event occurred somewhere around the time that they postulate that it happened, it's still just a shot in the dark where a scientist floats up a trial balloon to try and explain one way that something might have happened in the past.

I mean, it's like when I read about the global warming debate where they talked about how the earth has been much warmer than it is now and much cooler. Maybe during an ice age a lot of dinosaurs died. Maybe there was some type of dinosaur plague like AIDS or the Bubonic plague that was going around that killed them off and whatever virus was responsible for it died with the dinosaurs since that was the only type of animal it could live in. Maybe there there was a plague of primitive dinosaur egg eating rats or some other small creature that could sneak into dinosaur egg sites and gobble them all up without being detected just like there are sudden swarms of locusts that seem to come out of nowhere and then disappear again.

Before anyone gets too carried away, it’s worth briefly revisiting the history of the ‘dinosaurs died from an impact’ theory.

The idea was proposed to explain a layer enriched with certain minerals which are mostly found in objects from outer space. The layer was generally at the place in the fossil record where the dinosaurs disappeared.

Others pointed out that volcanism could explain all the features blamed on an impact, and found evidence of massive volcanism at the same ‘time’—the Deccan traps of India. Such large volcanic outpourings are known as ‘flood basalts’.

The Chicxulub crater was found only later, but was regarded as ‘proof’, especially in the public imagination. So-called ‘shocked quartz’ particles, diagnostic of powerful impact, seemed to settle the case.

Still, some evolutionary researchers remained sceptical, showing that it was unlikely that the ‘crater’ was from impact and also indicating that it was in the ‘wrong’ place in the record.

Others argued that the fossils showed (in the long-age framework) that dinosaur remains did not ‘suddenly’ go out of the record at all.

Recently, a ‘redating’ of Chicxulub showed that if it was an impact, it indeed happened at the ‘wrong time’ to be blamed for dinosaur extinction. Also Drill cores of the Chicxulub Crater do not support the idea that it is an impact crater.

Even many evolutionary dinosaur experts are scathing of the meteor extinction theory. For example, Jimmy Bakker of the University of Colorado Museum denounced the meteor proponents as follows:

‘The arrogance of these people is simply unbelievable. They know next to nothing about how real animals evolve, live, and become extinct. But, despite their ignorance, the geochemists feel that all you have to do is crank up some fancy machine and you’ve revolutionized science. The real reasons for the dinosaur extinctions have to do with temperature and sea level changes, the spread of diseases by migration and other complex events. In effect, they’re saying this: we high-tech people have all the answers, and you paleontologists are just primitive rockhounds.’

Bakker also pointed out that the meteor would have killed the very creatures that survived the supposed dino extinction:

‘it would send up a dust storm that would chill the earth. The dust would cause acid rain that would kill the frogs, turtles and fish right away. They are very sensitive to acid rain. Big animals wouldn’t be affected as much. So the theory of a meteorite hitting predicts just the wrong order.’

Adam and Eve were protected inside the Garden of Eden. The dinosaurs were outside. When they sinned by disobeying Jehovah they were thrown outside where the dinosaurs were. They had to endure living among them for hundreds of years until the flood came and drowned them.

The reason they were needed in the earth is because of all the vegetation and they had to keep it eaten down.

Once mankind was growing the dinosaurs had to go.

What took them so long to figure this out, I did not go to the website you showed, But as a Christian for over 37 yrs. I already knew there was a Prehistoric world, & that God took this planet away from the sun long enough to cause a ICE AGE, Now really if people study their bibles, they cn see a prehistoric world time frame, Many reads the bible & never know what they read,

The discovery of the impact crater, the iridium layer,KT boundary had already made the reason for the extinction known. This article is about how the asteroid came to be that impacted the Earth. That an asteroid impacted is relatively old news

Old news. They figured out how the dinosaurs went extinct over a decade ago. That they JUST figured out (maybe) was where the rock that did it came from.
