Some Atheists may hope so - but the Metaphysical concepts you refer to will still have strong currency and belief.

I don't know that there is a rational answer to be given, since your question is not rational. Why would the discovery of extraterrestrial life nullify religious faith? I mean ... don't get me wrong -- I think the decline of religion would be great for our world. Still, your scenario makes no sense, unless you're one of those scientologists or Zecharia Stitchin weirdos who believes aliens created the human race.

I believe in One Creator. Nobody knows how it all got "created" for sure, but, people waste a lot of time with the little details. I think there are tons of people that still do not realize the advances in space technology, or haven't seen the pictures the Hubble telescope has been sending back. Some people don't want to believe there's anything else beyond our atmosphere, but in the big scheme of things, we are so tiny, that I think it would be ignorant to think there isn't anything but us.

Why should the discovery of life on other planets refute one's belief in God?

There is nothing in the bible that prohibits the possibility of life on other planets.

God, creator of the universe, would still be the same God and the Bible would still be the Word of God to His creatures.

god bless

Not really, for unless the aliens can satisfactorily proof of how they came to be, there will always be the thought of a Creator.

If the Big Bang theory is not shown to be factual, the theist could always say, that their gods made those aliens as well, to populate the universe. their gods, then deemed it unneccesary to inform us the presence of other beings, as it is of no consequence to Him, whether we know or not

Talk about small minds, logic,if anyone thinks we are it,they are not too bright.Earth is a little tiny grain of sand in this ENDLESS universe.God created billions of worlds all with life.God say no need to tell us,The bible is a handbook for EARTH. Jesus does mention once,His sheep from another flock.

The fact that the Earth orbits the sun has already contradicted the bible. It contradicts the following verses:

Psalm 93:1, Psalm 96:10, Chronicles 16:30, Psalm 104:5, and Ecclesiastes 1:5

My rational answer is that there is no other planet that has life, God picked this planet for his purpose of life, I am always amazed how you all always say AFTER we prove, That shows me that you all have done ALL you can to try to disprove God & prove life on another planet & to this day you have not proved one thing, Because You all always say AFTER, & If time goes on another 10,000 yrs, as we know time, Your statement will still be the same & that is AFTER we prove.

Aliens, true or false, probably don't make any religion defunct. Probably wouldn't even make atheism defunct [more's the pity].

The aliens might have a better religion than ours. One that actually works.

aliens are not in contradiction to any religion that i know of.
the bible, for example, doesnt say god didnt create other worlds etc. it just deals with this world, and primarily with the land of israel and the middle east.
