Everybody knows there were no dinosaurs...the scientists made it all up; the Bible would've told us if they were real, 'cause nothing in the bible is made up.

We're all fools, although most won't admit it about themselves. ; )

Sorry, it's been so long since I've been on this board, I forgot that this is a "serious" board -- frivolity and humor are strictly verboten

Are you being facetious? I certainly hope so, I know there are actually people out there that think like this but I shutter at the thought.

First of all, not "everybody" beleives that dinosaurs were not real. A reasonable person says "oh look, a huge fossil in a rock layer known to date around 65 million years". Then they would figure out that it doesn't match any of the species currently known to exist on this planet, did Satan put them there to throw off those that aren't completely engorged in blind faith? Perhaps it is more blasphemous to be so egocentric that this planet is approximately 4.57 billion years old and the only ones to ever live on it are humans and all the current organisms we have observed in nature are the only ones that ever existed.

Second of all, the Bible is not literally the direct word of god. The stories from just the New Testament were written approximately 75 years after the fact. So that'd be like writing stories about things that happened to your grandfather when he was a young man. And then those were hand-written by monks for millenia, and that was done across several languages. So to say that the Bible is the exact word of God is a bit of a stretch. In actuality the Bible is a very human text; yes it does have messages that should steer us all in a life of morality and faith, but you shouldn't take it so literal. If the Catholic Church would have left them alone, think of the discoveries Copernicus and Galileo could have made. But their claim that the planets, including Earth revolved around the sun didn't jive with the Bible. Of course, you being a literalist on the Bible, surely don't buy that whole heliocentric solar system bull do you?

dinosaurs did exist, they are in the bible. when god created earth, he placed a water firmament(canopy) around it. it served to keep the harmful rays of sun out and protected life from potassium 40, which causes the aging process.therefore living things had a much longer life span, the people in the bible lived for hundreds of years before dieing. a reptile continues to grow as long as it lives, and since all life was living to tremendous ages, that would make a really big reptile, after the flood of noah, the water firmament fell as part of this flood as did under ground springs burst causing the continential drift. now without the protective canopy, the harmful effects of the sun were causing the life span to shorten. now life dies off sooner, as does the reptile life, therefore they don't have the chance to grow as large as before. so the reptiles that we have today are the same as before the great flood, they are just much smaller, if you find a really huge reptile, you can bet it's pretty old. now of course some of them just died off and became extinct, just as animals still do today, for the same reasons as today, not a big comet or whatever people try to tell us. the bible speaks of dinosaurs walking with man, it's tail the size of a cedar...what other animal you know with a tail that's the size of a tree. footprints have been found fossilized next to one another of human and dinosaur. so look around, the lizards and other reptiles you encounter today are the same ones that at one time grew to tremendous size, and still today have the potiental of towering size if given the right conditions on earth.god bless.

Yeah, crocodiles are fictitious too!!! There's also nothing in the famed "Kupier" belt that would ever have a chance of hitting the Earth either! The bible also doesn't mention Jupiter either, so there is definitly no chance that anything that doesn't exist in the Kupier belt being flung at the Earth. Earth, BTW, the bible says doesn't move! Psalm 93:1, Psalm 96:10, and Chronicles 16:30 state that "the world is firmly established, it cannot be moved." Psalm 104:5 says, "[the LORD] set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved." Ecclesiastes 1:5 states that "the sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises."

I will surely take a far diffrent appraoch that most will, tends to be that way..... I am a strong Bible believing Christian, full gospel all the way, and I believe i obeying what we are told.
Now, with that said, I think there is way more to this..
First , what science says is not always real. For in the BIble , God does warn us about false science/knowledge in 1 Tim 6:20 and HE tells us that when it doesnt go along with His teachings, it is false and we are to flee RUN from it.
Yes, there is so much evidence of things like dinosaurs, and we cant fully ignore that. Job 40:15 does refer to a large land animal. Could be a dinosaur, hippopotomus, etc.. Its simply not listed. Maybe in the original text, it was in more detail....
So, yes there could be dosaurs, and there is much evidence to that fact, that cannot be ignored. BUT, it wasnt millions and millions of years ago. The scientif method of dating things is just simply not accurate. Many scientists that are truly Chrisitan have made that clear, but noone hears them. Only what the world says gets accepted. We know from Gods word that the world is NOT millions and millions of years old.
But, were there dinosaurs, probably. And remember , We christians do not believe in evolution, so we wouldnt believe there is a species seperate from what God created. SO, if there were dinoaurs, we dont know have species that have evolved from that into a whole new specieies. A species may evolve CHANGE within itself, but doesnt become a new species. NOT EVER. If you put a dog in colder climate, he will grow more hair to survive it. But, no matter how long that dog is left there, he will not turn into a cat, or half dog, half cat. These ppl who think like this is scarrey ppl, yet they call us ignorant and so unscientific. God says to call no man a fool. Christians wont do that. But God does tell us what He says a fool is: Someone who will not follow Him and believe in Him. and will be lost to hell.
Not more words, but Gods words.
Back to the dinosaurs, in the end, does it really matter? NO. This is not a salvation issue. Whether there was or was not ever any dinosaurs, they are all gone now, you know.... and it has nothing to do with our salvation. For many to fight terribly over these things is so sad. Lets just be sure we are where God wants us to be with HIM< and to bring the light of Jesus to the world. Do we speak truths of the Bible?? Yes. All of them? Yes. and we encourage ppl to truly get into serious, deep Bible Study and find out these things for themselves. When we read the word, it comes alive... and then GOd will make changes in our life, as we allow it, and stop battling. We surrender our will to His. But, I like how you are challenging things and asking questions. That is how we all learn. Hold on to everything God shows us in His word, and study more , prayer more, and know God intimately. But, when we hear things like this, we must check everything by His word. If it doesnt pan it, we let it go instantly.
God bless you for at least being willing to ask questions. I pray we are all growing and learning together.
God bless you.
We can say securlat scients have some silly thinking, but we can never call them a FOOL. And Yes, I know you did NOT do that, but I hear so many say this on here that are supposed to be Christians. God says call no man a fool. BUt HE sure does tell us what a fool is... For sheena, if you knew the Bible, you would know it is not deception to know that mental illness does come from demons. Why do you think they hear voices? and usually saying to do bad things?? This is not current popular thinking, but I am not about that. I believe what God says and He tells us how those things happen, if only we would read, hear, receive and know Gods truth and then follow all He says to follow.

this is the most sensitive yet debatible ques...the question about religion and science..well, according to science, life started from a cell called the prokaryotic cell and from there through evolution, became an eukaryotic cell and so on to animals and other life...we have only 1 chromosome difference from monkeys thats why scientists have discovered that the evolution of monkeys formed a new species which are humans..animals as well as plants evolve to adapt to the environment...in the bible it says that humans were created by god..whereas for the existance of dinosours is up to u to believe facts or religion..just like science..many religious people dont want to believe what is not in the bible..the bible was written many yrs ago and new findings and discoveries have been made and there are more to come..so, its basically influence from people to believe the bible but its up to u to believe wad u want because everybody has their own theory about life on earth..therefore, till you do ur research thoroughly including bible studies, do not make a statement so ridiculous as to say scientists are silly..

If all scientists are silly... ( since you didnt specify which science ) Then why take medicines when sick? Then why are we in front of a computer using everything developed by science? hehe WHy not just maintain the medieval belief that some illnesses like Tourette's Syndrome are Demons taking possession of mortals and have these people burnt by molten lead to see if they burn? These were based on religious theories... Wonder who are the silly ones? Both are at some point to discovery of truth

I guess the closest to practicing what they preach in terms of shunning science are the Amish... but then again, even THEY have to cave in to Science every now and then :)

Dinosaurs and the Bible do not conflict with each other. They would have been created on the 6th day, named by Adam in the Garden of Eden, placed in the Noah's ark (not full size specimens, but young adults), and they would have died off after the flood when the climate changed so drastically. All these events occurred in the first five chapters of the book of Genesis. In these short chapters it doesn't really provide a list of animals alive at that time, and there is no good reason to think they were not there.

*Gasp* But I thought the T-Rex was saved on Noah's Ark! Oh wait, no, Satan planted those dino fossil's didn't he? That sneaky little......

Yes, you have to be careful in here with humor. A lot of people don't know what it is. And most are completely lost on sarcasm. I normally try to put a disclaimer in there somewhere to let them know I'm joking... or else I end up with over 30 emails. lol
