This is where age of accountability comes in, simply put if the person is incapable of understanding salvation they don't go to hell.

An 8 year old child will not go to hell for not believing in jesus. No one will go to hell for not believing in jesus....as the whole world does not orbit entirely around christianity....and christianity does not have a monopoly on religion, even though they might want you to think they do. That is a fact.

oh FFS! what a ridiculous question and thought! there is NO hell and there is NO god - a jesus - yes most likely. if an 8 year old is unfortunate to die so young - could god not have saved that child...? oh you religious muppets - when are you all going to focus on the REAL world, ask REAL questions and stop wasting your time with all this religious nonsense??

Do you think little Rhys Jones will go to hell if he didnt beleive in Jesus? Where was god then when he needed him most that day? And dont say he is 'testing us' - its the biggest religious cop-out of them all!

I cannot believe some of the answers people have given on this subject. What have they been doing all their lives .Quoting the Bible ?There are over 50 different versions of the Bible in English alone. Which ones are correct (if any)The Jewish Bible,The Catholic Bible ,The Protestant Bible and "other Bibles" are significantly different from each other. So you Bible bashes better read them all before you start quoting from "The Bible."
Would a dead unborn foetus go to Hell ? A person who commits a mortal sin without asking for forgiveness is more likely to go to Hell. Not believing in Jesus is not necessarily a mortal sin.

If you follow the bible word for word which you're meaaant to do if you believe that its true, then yes, a young child would go to hell for not believing in Jesus. Infact anyone, an 99 year old granny who has done nothing but good in their life will go to hell. Meanwhile, rapists, peadophiles and murderers who repent and except Jesus into their lives will experience eternal bliss in heaven.

Ofcourse, none of the bible is true, but just because it is made up doesn't detract from the fact that there are millions of people who find this acceptable and run around with their hands in the air worshiping such a sadistic notion.

Anyone who accepts and feels OK about accepting such a notion, is a truly sick, sick individual in my eyes.

Religions like christianity have many, many sub religions with in them, because they know deep down inside that what they are professing to believe in is down right imoral, so you will have things like the church of England who's members and clergys discount many, many areas of the bible because they know it is simply unacceptable, and pass them off as being nothing more than storys intended to make us think. However, this is not the way the bible is written and they are kidding themselves. They want to live in a 21st century world, yet have eternal life at the end of it.

I don't believe you can pick and choose which bits of your religion you are going to follow and which bits you aren't and still go 'lording' it over everyone.

One day, the Atheists are going to stand up against the religious who use their beliefs to justify all manner of horrific inhumanities and say enough is enough. Once we have truly rid ourselves of God, we will all be able to look around at the beautiful world we have and truly appreciate how lucky we are to have this one chance at life, and the, only then, will mankind become truly human.

This really is a stupid question, which is typical of the religious mentality.
If there was a god, and I`m sure there isn`t, what sort of a god is he or she that would ostracise a child who knew nothing about him or her?
Anyway, there is no `hell`, only in the mind, and there is no Jesus who was only a misguided religious nut-case who thought he was the son of a god.
If he appeared today he would be laughed into oblivion and probably certified and put in a mental institution.
It serves him right that he was crucified - it was his own fault for pretending to be the son of a god. The Romans proved him wrong on the spot.
Some people find that hard to believe because their IQ is less than 50 - the average being 100.

they are going to "sleep" in dying as Jesus actually stated at John 11:11. The Bible says the lifeless can in no way be tortured. it is obvious in case you study what the situation of the lifeless is at Eccles. 9:5, 10 and Psalms 146:4. The lifeless do flow to "hell' yet it is purely the hardship-unfastened grave, not a place of any torture. greater the Bible shows the lifeless do not stay for eternity in hell with out get away. Revelation 20:13-14 shows they're released for judgment to eternal existence or eternal dying, however the final analysis is they're released. John 5:28-29 shows contract with this in saying approximately Jesus: "do not marvel at this, because of the fact the hour is coming wherein all those interior the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, people who did reliable issues to a resurrection of existence, people who practiced vile issues to a resurrection of judgment. " So no component to the "hellfire" doctrine is fairly the final option. that's as fake as that's pagan in commencing place.

Any 8 year old will go to Heaven if they die, Jesus is a God of Love, The bible says that Hell was made for the devil and his angels. The only way anybody else goes to Heaven is by rejecting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour... I think the age of accountability as we like to call it varys for most people. Do you remember in Exodus were God said that no body over the age of 20 would go into the Promise land because of unbelief after they had come out of egypt. If there is a set age it has to be based on how many times you have felt the conviction of God on your heart, you know, how many times the Lord as given you a chance to accept him as Lord and Saviour, hoped that helped you out, If you have any questions let me know, good luck and may GOD BLESS YOU. By the way if you have never been saved here is a good Sinners Prayer, Dear Jesus, I just ask you right now to forgive me of my sins and come into my heart and save me. I know that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour, I believe you came to earth to die on a cross for me to be a perfect sacrifice for my sins. I am now trusting in you to make me one of your children in the Kingdom of Heaven, in Jesus Name, Amen. If you Prayed that Prayer with a sincere heart you are now saved, Find a church and start reading your Bible. Its the best decision you will ever make.

The child will probably be treated according to how his or her parents acted. God rewards faith down three or four generations, and He punishes anyone who hates him down three or four generations too. According to Leviticus God sees people over the age of twenty as consenting adults so I'd guess that that would be the cut off point.

Then again, thinking about it, one translation of Hell is Grave, so when people die they either go to heaven or they just go to the grave. It is said that in the afterlife those who sin will die, and those that are good live forever - and we all have another chance after this life.

i believe it's debatable by child - some children at 8 are very quick, smart and understnding, others are not. if the child choose to reject God, there would be a challenge. children that age are subject to the parents motives -- they will know Jesus or not becuase of the parents and extended family. if the child was not subject to a Christian life, no one can fault the child.

Nobody will go to either heaven or hell because they are both transparent psychological devices to encourage dumb obedience.

And they are evil in the extreme - what a 'loving' god, to create conscious beings with built-in tendencies to screw up and then punish them *eternally* if they do! How many millions of children (and adults) have been terrorized by being told these vicious lies for thousands of years?

Religion - all religion - is a monstrous, irrational and false collection of sheer nonsense that has done nothing but retard the progress of civilization, all while claiming to be some kind of 'moral authority' frequently doing its best to create real hell right here on earth.

There is nothing I despise more than the very idea of religion!
