I have a kitten, and she is about 2 months old, and i noticed when she is lying down to sleep she will sometimes start to suck on her paws, and even sometimes on my fingers. Why does she do this? Is it normal. I have had kittens before but i dont remember them doing this. Thanks!

She is teething, and im pretty sure she was taken away from her mother around 1-2 weeks, her eyes were just opened. She was found at a factory with 4 other cats, and someone found them. My mom works with his wife, and my other kitten had just ran away, so we went over to look at them, and there where two black ones, two orange and a calico, and i just had to choose the calico. She is adoreable, but i do suspect she was taken from her mother very early on.

you answered your own question!! both my kittens were the runts of two seperate litters.. they BOTH do that.. except they suck on blankets and it got worse when they were teething.. its perfectly normal for kittens who were taken too early from their mothers.. they might grow out of it.. they might not.. but either way its not unhealthy

Hi

This is sometimes normal. It could be that she was taken away from her Mom a bit too soon. It could also be just the maternal instinct to suckel. Some cats will do it all their lives, most will outgrow it though....

Babies need to suck . She was small when weaned and she just needs this to fill her own emotional needs. She may do this all her life . If it don't bother you let her do it. If it bothers you ,you can break her gently by distracting her with a toy or food till she quits. Its no big deal.
