well as a non-believer I'd say it's very important because I tend not to talk with believers who can't have a laugh or even lighten up a bit.

I know that as a believer you take God very seriously but if you present God only as that way, you'll be ignoring the fact that people are human, and they like funny. Funny is good.

It's important to retain a sense of humour, no matter whether you're a believer or not.

YES! It is vital in life that "we" retain a positive outlook in life, either in humor, attitude or in our state of being. It is beautiful to withhold and believe that whatever comes our way- the challenges we face, difficult it maybe.. we can still find solutions and look forward to happy and positive results or endings.. As we have read in spiritual books, usually it states that sometimes we have to search the inner child in us.. for it's innocence, strong beliefs, happiness or humor. If we observe children... they cry when they get hurt..but after wards, they give such genuine smiles and laughs that is so infectious that the adults that surrounds that child smiles and laughs as well.

Sense of humor is one of our solutions to our deepest problems as it helps us retain our sanity amidst of all problems. Of course, we have to give solutions to the challenges that we face, and not escape it, but it enlightens us when we have humor in us, after all... it's just a problem, and it always has it's solutions. Some people they escape problems with sense of humor, but i believe, positive attitude + determination+ humor+ prayers .. can give OUTSTANDING results. It is only when we believe we can give remarkable solutions / results regardless what we have experienced or whatever one faces today, tomorrow or in the future.

Absolutely, a sense of humour is a very important thing. Don't take yourself or life in general too seriously

Having a sense of humor, I think, is very important no matter who you are. It allows us to be more tolerant of situations, and see things in a much relaxed and positive light.
Remember, there are many who does not subscribe to you one ideals and beliefs, and to take them seriously every time can be a bit nerve wracking and tiresome exercise.

You really do have to, to believe that rubbish... I just don't see a better answer, and that is coming from the grown up section of my brain.

Absolutely, most if not all religious wars began when someone took themselves and their beleifs WAY too seriously....

Also, look at Fred Phelps for an example of what happens when you lose your sense of humor. He and his children seem to be angry all the time to me.....

I would think so. A lot of the characters in this forum don't have any sense of humor at all though.
