Yes, someone's beliefs do make a difference. When most people vote I think we vote for the whole person - not just their political positions - although that is very important.

Of course, if I needed a new house built, I would first look for someone who knew how to swing a hammer and pound a nail - even if he didn't carry a bible in his pocket or know the words to "Amazing Grace". But, hey, if I could get a hammer-wielding, bible-believing, hymn-singing carpenter - now that would great!

god bless

Yes. I could never vote for any candidate who considered homophobia loving, moral or acceptable. A "homophobic Christian" is an oxymoron.

As far as the most pressing issues in America, I would say: Affordable education, healthcare, helping the homeless re-enter society, getting us out of the Iraq quagmire, finding Osama Bin Laden, ending the constant drain of jobs overseas, and solving the problem of homophobia.

This is one of the reasons, I have a problem with religion. To pick a candidate solely because of his/her religious belief is a dangerous game to play. Each prospective candidates should be accessed on their merits, not on which God they pray too.
So if I wish to win an election, all i have to do is prove I am a better Christian, than the other guy.
At least a Non-believer makes a decision on facts, not what some 2000 year old teachings have to say.

I vote based on issues, but I know that all politicians lie about their positions on everything.

The most important issues to me? In no particular order:
1. Education. Our system needs a SERIOUS overhaul.
2. Crime, and our judicial system.
3. Medical care. We're badly in need of SOMETHING to help those who can't afford insurance.
4. Helping those who CAN'T help themselves.

Abortion and other such issues take a backseat when compared with these, especially when even the most "anti-abortion" candidates will SAY they're against it, but do nothing to prevent them.

Oh, and since most of them lie about their religion, I don't vote based on that.

if you could vote for anyone on the planet would it be one of the candidates offered ? I find it hard believe so for any one with any sense . So if those candidates support and take an oath to support the constitution why vote on unconstitutional lines is that wrong ? if you want to vote on religious lines vote against the constitution and get out of the hypocrisy closet.

If they are christian I would look more closely at them then if they were not. I feel that God needs to be in power and needs to have someone in control to save this country from disaster. We started this country with one nation under God and we need to keep it that way. One issue I am worried about is letting to many groups get a peice of government. Some are so extreme that they are going to ruin America.

at the beginning, if non secular ideals are your foundation for vote casting, you should noticeably study your Bible and think of roughly which candidate is asserting stuff that truly lines up which contain your ideals and which one is doing issues, and has accomplished issues that are the styles of issues Jesus did. in the adventure that your substantial situation with democrats is abortion, i might ask you to seem on the reality that republicans have accomplished no longer something to sidestep abortion and the reality that abortions have greater for the time of Bush's presidency. Are Republicans heavily "professional-existence" or do they use a declare of being professional-existence to get your vote then do no longer something approximately it? in the event that they do no longer something approximately it (the two via doing no longer something or via purely providing legislations that's so radical and extremist their very own component votes it down) then you certainly ought to chosen between the occasion that asserts they do no longer something and does no longer something or the occasion that asserts they do something and does something. i might additionally ask you to look for suggestion from the Bible for some suggestion approximately government. Did Jesus attempt to alter his government or did Jesus say that the government's company replaced into the governments and god's replaced into gods? Did Jesus attempt to alter Roman regulation or the non secular regulation of his faith? considering i'm no longer a Christian, i do no longer anticipate my view to count to you, yet I ask you to look for suggestion from the BIBLE extremely than preachers, on Biblical concerns.
