So lets just say for work wasting time and brain ticking, that your walking down a road right, and you come to a fork in the road, the kind that splits the road into two seperate ways, not an actual fork you hungry thinking mugs. Anyway theres two people standing at the start of these roads, one on each road.

All you know is that, one way leads to home and the other death, holy moly! And that one of these guys has to always tell the truth and the other has to always lie. You have no idea which way is home or death and also lets say these chumps are identical twins so you got no clue whos who, blimey.

So peeps, you can only ask one question and one question only. This question has to lead you to home of course, and can be asked to any of those two chumps standing in the way.

Good luck!

Ask either one, "If asked the other guy which way home was safe, which road would HE tell me to follow?"
Then, go the other way.

None of the answers so far are correct because you can only ask one of them a question. Given that you don't know if you are asking the liar or the truth teller. Even if you ask a question you know the answer to like what is 2+2 the liar could say 'I don't know' as the truth teller might not be able to count he could be the truth teller. Also if you ask one point to the path home. The liar who must lie will point to the path to death but since you don't know if you ask the liar or the truth teller you have no idea. The other one does not answer because they were not asked the question.

I believe the correct answer would be to say to either one 'ask your brother which is the correct way home'
If you have asked the liar to ask his brother he will have to lie so will ask his brother which is the way to death. The brother(the truth teller) will point to the path to death so you take the opposite. If you have asked the truth teller he will ask his brother to point to the way to home, the liar will have to point to the path to death and the truth teller will have to say he is lying. In each case you go the opposite way to the way that is pointed'
I know others said this but asking only one question of one of the chumps means you must ask one to ask the other something in order to get an answer from 'both' so you can decide who is the truth teller and who is the liar.

ask 1 guy... which way would your brother tell me to go. I would then go the opposite way to the road he pointed out. Theguy who tells the truth would point to the incorrect road as thats the way his brother would tell you, the lying guy would also point out the wrong road as he would lie about what his brother would say. Therefore the correct road home would be tha opposite of where the guy points.

If I was in that situation I would turn back and research about those roads which will at least lead me home, not death.

I would choose one at random and say 'How many roads are there? The liar would have to say a number other than two...so I wouldn't ask him the road to heaven.

An old one, you ask what your mate would say and go in the
opposite direction. The liar would still lie or allternatively
the trthful person you you would make lie (truthfully?).

If you've ever see the film "The enigma of Kasper
Hause", the professor of logic asks this question
and his answer was "I would ask him if he is a tree
frog.

Walk up to any of the guys and ask the following question: "If I asked you which door leads home, where would you point me to?"
Go through the door it points you to!

Explanation
Lying guy: Will point to the door home(ordinarily he would point to the door of death, but since he lies, he will tell you the opposite of what he would actually have said if you asked him the question "which door leads to freedom?")
Truth-telling guy: Will point you to the door to freedom because that it what it would do if you actually asked the question.
