Well that is the question of the century. Religious or spiritual. I am spiritual. The majority of fanatics are religious. Religious people are responsible for much of the death and evil in the world. Their fanaticism fuels a hatred and intolerance for anyone else's beliefs. It was the religious that stormed the middle east during the crusades so as to make off with the ark of the covenant, which by the descriptions in the scriptures was a highly advanced power source and/or weapon. It was the religious that caused the Inquisition and the death of millions in the name of god. It was the religious that brought death to many of the innocent of Salem MA during the witch hunts. No I'm not religious. Being spiritual is a way that your spirit can connect with the GOD source in all it's beauty and complexity. Spirituality is the belief that we all have an immortal soul and that by exercising and nurturing that soul we become more advanced. Many atheists will tell you that there is no soul, or heaven. They are wrong. Everyday the scientific community gets closer to finding this soul which is bioelectric in nature as first observed by the krillian camera decades past. By being spiritual we open our world to endless possibilities of advancement and learning through the soul. I think it's funny to watch the religious and atheists because both groups just give off bad vibes so to speak whenever I meet one. The religious are fanatical, and the atheist are uncompromising. The atheist takes science as their faith. To me science and spirituality are one. Until we move forward to bridge theis gap we are all lost. This worlds problems all stem from this split of religion and atheism. Both ideals and those that support them are it's cause. We need a new pradigm for the future because if we don't find one then we will see our world in flames. And that's not good for anyone. I suggest reading the "THE AWFUL TRUTH" by Patrick J Conway. He has an ebook that explains this split and both of their faults in great and common sense detail at realists dot com. Send me an email and I will send you some other sites and info that will really suprise you plus it's not all religion either.

It doesn't matter what ANYONE thinks! It only matters what you think and feel !
The way you get closer to GOD is to pray and learn. Read the bible, history, science, and other religious writings. You don't need to go to any church to find the answers that are meant for you!
Jesus didn't build a building to preach in, did he?

By definition, religious means "relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity" (Merriam-Webster dictionary). Since you believe in God, you can truthfully say you are religious.
You can still get closer to God. All you need to do is ask Him for knowledge of His will for you and the power to carry it out.
I would like to suggest you attend a worship service. You may be pleasantly surprised by what you find. The fellowship and instruction in a service can be just as valuable as the worship.
Good luck on your journey and God be with you.

You're fine just the way you are, so you can tell that kid, "you might think I don't believe in God but I think you're a butt-faced freak. At least all I have to do is go to church more to fix MY problem."
But don't get too locked into the belief that you have to belong to a religion to be a good person. Nobody else's opinion should make you decide something that's better left decided when you're older.
Good luck.

I know what you mean. To be a saved Christian you do not have to be "religious" that is you do not need to go to church every Sunday. But, you must believe in Jesus and what he teaches seriously and follow his commandments. Many of those things are hard to do if we are not surrounded by other believers on whom we can rely and with whom we can pray. We need their support because we are all sinners constantly tempted by sin, if we support each other we make each other stronger. Church is a good place to meet other Christian people. Of course it depends what church it is because some churches do not have supportive people in them.

There is no standard, therefore the religiousness of one cannot be measured.
As long as one live out one's life, accordingly to the faith they subscribe to, they are religious enough.
Do not be bothered by those expounding or boasting of their religiousness, for they are still empty inside and wish to feel better, by trouncing other people.
Its the same concept as "My dad can beat your dad". Its childish and of no consequences.
However, one can never get too close to one's God, so by continously discovering and exploring one's faith, it will show the commitment you have towards your God

If you distance yourself from certain people based on your religion, then you are really religious.
For example if I was an atheist and ask you to be my friend, and you said no based on the reason that I was an atheist, then I would consider you really religious.
If you said yes, but wouldn't date me, then maybe you'd just be religious.
And if you were willing to marry me and commit to children I'd probably just consider you spiritual.

Good soldier of Jesus Christ
2Tm:2:1: Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2Tm:2:2: And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2Tm:2:3: Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2Tm:2:4: No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
2Tm:2:5: And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
2Tm:2:6: The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
2Tm:2:7: Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
2Tm:2:8: Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
2Tm:2:9: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
2Tm:2:10: Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
2Tm:2:11: It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
2Tm:2:12: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
2Tm:2:13: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
FOLLOW GODS WORD,THATS ALL HE ASKS,DAILY.
GOD BLESS

I believe that you need to ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart and live. He died on the cross just for you. To believe in God isn't enough....the devil believes in God, too. You need to try to "live" for Him each and every day. Keep seeking Him and you won't be disappointed. I promise.
