Depends on your definition of good.

Can some personal good come from it? I guess so.

Is it healthy to put belief over reality? Absolutely not.

Edit-Hope please show me some science that supports your claim. Preferably from any non christian site.

Why are you so blind to what an atheist is?! greater to the element in case you do not understand what an atheist is why are you so illiberal, hate crammed, bigoted and persecuting in the direction of them?! ATHEIST - somebody who does not have confidence in a God – any God – not purely the Christian one. yet that doesn't recommend they don't carry reliable ethical or religious ideals! they are able to persist with any faith that doesn't have a god and there are multiple those! Like BUDDHISM – religious coaching from Buddha and his followers that via destroying greed, hatred and myth (the reason of all suffering) guy can attain appropriate enlightenment! the place do you think of christianity have been given it is concepts of a soul and afterlife from for goodness sake? They stole it from the pagan tribes and peoples which existed hundreds and hundreds of years till now christianity! From the stone age with the aid of vikings, Egyptians, Maoris, Aborigines, American Indians and particularly the chinese language, all of them had complicated funerals and grave products to velocity the soul into the subsequent existence with convenience! upload christians and muslims jointly and that they volume to easily decrease than a 0.33 of the international inhabitants nearly all of something is created from atheists and religions with out gods!! so as that they are interior the majority right here!

Having faith in something can give a person a purpose in life. A reason to live or something to strive for. If you have no belief in some kind of after life or higher power life to me seems some what worthless and makes no difference in how you live it. If there in fact was nothing but death your life is worth little when looking at an overall view you can have little impact in the actual fate of anything whats 80 years in 400 billion? so my answer is yes it can be a good thing and more times that not it is a good thing

A person could also be happy believing in fairies (which I've always loved but always knew were fantasy creatures), therefore appearing to be a good thing. But what really would that belief benefit them? Every prayer would be empty and unanswered, every good deed unacknowledged and unrewarded, studying the lore would be as useless as reading any piece of fiction, therefore not improving their life or wisdom, and if the fairies expected that believers should spread knowledge of them to everyone else, then the believers would become as pariah socially...making them depressed, unhappy and shunned.

yes and no.

sometimes , it does help and relieve certain people , giving them a hope of life after death , so they may not be so sad if their children suddenly die of illness or accident.

i cannot say god is real or not , or which god is true or false. i have no evidence to prove or dis-prove which god is true or false.

faith is good if it helps you alot.

however somehow , certain people twist it to be used against others , creating fear in these people . and this is the part where i personally think it's false.

imagine this scenario , a christian tell this dude that if he isnt a christian , he will go to hell.

so therefore this dude goes home and think bout it , then he realise his parent who pass away 2 years ago is a non christian , and therefore is in hell.

this guy eventually deverlop depression.. and suicide.

so is faith good now?

Of course.

Anything you want to use as an excuse to get you where you want to be in life, then go for it.

I'm not a member of any church, synagouge or mosque, or anything of that nature.

I don't ever even think about God or a higher existense. I just take it for what it is.

But if it helps you to believe there is something out there, I don't think it's hurting anyone.

Just don't tell me what to believe, and I won't tell you what to believe, and I think if everyone went by that policy, there wouldn't be nearly as much conflict today.

Having Full Trust and FAith is what saves u and believing Jesus was raised from the dead, thats the ONly True God there is the CREATOR.

THat is a GOOD thing, ur Faith in something such as in a business is ok, ur not worshiping it, but beliving and having faith and following God's Will is waht u should aim for, not ur own abilities and what YOU want to happen, humble ur self submit to the one and only GOD there is, all else is a false God. Having faith means you believe something without good reason, never a good thing.

I guess having a fallback is ok in hardtimes to lean on ones faith. but religion has caused many battles and the death count is rising still...just depends on how much morals are in your faith, and whether you have any intelligence at all.

instead of asking this question of someone who claims there is not a God to believe in, why don't you ask a person who does believe- and yes it is a good thing- having faith in Jesus is the most real thing you can possibly do- it is good, not because we have done something to earn a relationship with God, it is God because God is good.

I think it can have a positive effect on life.

Firstly, with knowledge that we are answerable to someone for our actions, it may prompt some to take greater care of their behaviour.

A Chinese philosopher, Mencius, once proposed that Man are inherently evil. Its is through external influences such as law, fear, or in this case, gods, that we curb our destructive actions.

Personally, religion can also aid in one's overall well being. Instead of living life without purpose, some of those lost in the sea of life requires the beacon of religion to guide them through the ebb and flow.

These people, are able to find solace in their gods and goddess, and even their fellow believers. This unity is what makes Christianity popular, for many people claim to have religious experiences together.
However, it is of my opinion, that they simply revert to pack mentality, having delusions together, convincing that their gods had spoken either to them or through them. It makes it easier to know more like minded people, and can encourage the more introverted to step out into society
