My grandfather was using my computer and somehow change the settings on my windows XP. I can no longer switch users, i have to log off completely. I tried to go in and press "restore XP settings" and nothing happens. The colors and scheme is also gone and it looks like windows 95 now. I have tried to reset using different things and nothing has worked. Can someone please help?

I am trying to laugh as I was reading your story. My younger brother did the same thing to me and I did two things after I got it fixed one I created him a user account, then I locked it down so he could not make changes to the system. First off you can go to Start->Control Panel-> Taskbar& Start Menu. From there click the Start Menu tab and make sure it is set to Start Menu and not Classic Start Menu. The classic setting gives it the look and feel of 98 or 95. I hope this helps

Try: Start -> Control Panel -> Change the computers theme-> On the theme tab change the them to "windows xp", then apply. This should put it back to looking like Xp instead of classic view.

LMAO! old people and computers so wonderful but i guess younger kids aren't much different. listen to change your Administrative setting for users just open the your "Windows Users Accounts" located in the "Start Menu". As for the resolution on the computer just right click on your desktop click properties/settings tab and change the resolution back to style appropriate to you.

Stupid question.... did you run your anti-virus and spyware programs in safe mode? it's possible your grandfather picked up a virus and that might be why you can't change any of your settings
