This question is mainly for Catholics, traditional Catholics that is. Why is being gay, lesbian, or bisexual wrong. I'm trying to understand your point of view. I've heard that it's considered a mental disorder, but most people with mental disrders hurt themselves or other people, but gays and lesbians do not hurt anyone. Could anyone please explain to me why it's wrong.

Leviticus 20:13 (NIV)
13If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV)
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

It's the ACT that's wrong. Being gay, lesbian, or bisexual can't really be helped in my opinion. They really are born that way, in my opinion, and it's entirely possible that it's genetic.

And WHY is it wrong? Because the Bible, which is our authority, says so. Both in the Old Testament, and the New. It's considered sexual immorality, which Jesus DID speak out against.

Why does the Bible say it's wrong? Now THAT should be the question, don't you think?

My opinion is that it's wrong because it IS harmful to the people who engage in it. HIV/AIDS statistics prove this. It's more likely for a person to contract HIV/AIDS through homosexual sex, especially between two men. I can get the statistics for you if you like, they're on a nonbiased website that simply reports the findings.

As for lesbians, it's incredibly dangerous to insert anything into the vagina that is not shaped like a penis, and that isn't malleable like a penis. Anything else can tear the vaginal walls, and cause infections.

And by the way, I am now a non-practicing bisexual. I was bisexual for several years, dated a few different women (one of which I was eventually going to be hand-fasted to, I thought I was very much in love with her...and I still think about her a lot), and so I can speak from experience. Although I still have the urges every now and then, I can handle them.

It goes against God's original design for marriage that was established in Genesis 1-2. It's 'wrongness' is a matter of Christian theology more than anything else.

To say that it is a mental disorder would mean that we have determined the 'cause' of it and therefore would be able to 'cure' it. At this point, we have discovered no compelling physiological evidence of any difference between persons of either orientation. Nor do we find any chemical imbalances, etc... in homosexuals.

This was originally an Old Testament law (Leviticus 19-20, among other places). Though many of the OT laws were abolished during the ministry of Christ and the apostles (mighty.macabros neglected to mention that the law about shellfish was one of these that did change--Acts 9), those that did not change are still in effect. In fact, Paul speaks out in several of his letters against 'sexual immorality,' a reference to any violation of Mosaic law found in the OT.

It's not wrong. How can it be? it's not like it's a choice or anything, it's something you're born with. Just like some people are born straight. You didn't chose to be straight, you are just naturally attracted to the opposite sex. And gays are naturally attracted to the same sex. Though I think that with each generation that is born people are becoming more and more accepting. And I wish I can see the world on how it will be in like 100/200 years, I wounder how beautiful the world will be. As long as we keep telling the kids of today to accept everyone no matter gender or sexual attraction, the world will be a more beautiful place in the future.

Very honestly, Christians in general, including Catholics believe that the bible is the inspired word of God and in that bible it plainly states in more than one verse that it is wrong.

This is just one example:

Romans 1:25-27 (King James Version)

25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Many people confuse the attempts of christian churches to reconcile civil liberties with church doctrine as an acceptance, but it is not.

Most Christian religions will plainly state even if one claims to be born a certain way, not acting on sinful desires in the difference.

God throughout the Bible and history seems to make a great deal out of sanctity of marriage. The reason for this is that marriage is His ultimate example of showing to man a model of what relationship of a believer should be with His Son.
Christ is the head of the church just as the husband is to be the head of his wife. I hope this gives you some food for thought, as there are many profound insights to be discovered here.

I apologize; I don’t want to offend anyone.

– However, there is no way that homosexuality is logical, rational; nor does it match with, harmonize with, it is not supported by, or evidenced by our human anatomic or physiologic make-up.

Think about “it” ------

When it comes down to the truth, yes, they are hurting themselves -- their spiritual and physical well-being is in peril. Physically speaking (again, I apologize - there is no other way to say this) a person's anus - as far as anatomy and physiology go, is meant for one thing and one thing only: to 'expel' human waste products; in medical terms called ‘feces’. On the Spiritual side – The L-RD G-d commanded people ‘not’ to behave in that way. A person can't claim to believe in Him and then not follow His Holy Word (Torah, Bible, and Dead Sea Scrolls).

This is not my opinion or my point-of-view -- it is The L-RD G-d's.

Edit:

Adam B----
Jesus the Christ (The L-RD G-d in human flesh) also said: "anyone who is without sin may cast the first stone."

Since, no one is without sin; He is saying there is not to be anymore stoning.

Because God took a rib from Adam and made woman and said now go forward and multiply you know have children's to keep the population growing, if two men can not produce children's, there for if the lord did not want you to have children's, their would be no one in the world but Adam.

The thing is if you accept that gays were born that way then one could say that "God made me this way" and if you believe that, the whole belief that God would not allow a person to be born a "sinner". It's one of those things that pokes a hole in the doctrine of original sin and with a little digging you'll see how ridicules the whole thing is.

Gays and lesbians do not hurt anyone? Do you know that for a fact?

They can hurt someone just as much as a straight person could too..

Don't get stereotypical, not everyone is perfect.

Because according to the bible, it's wrong. Think of...the act itself. Sex is for reproduction and should be considered holy between a man and woman. Natural blah blah, etc...
