If a guy says he is not ready for a relationship because he needs to be focused on his schooling but is seeing someone to the point of basically dating them without a title, Is his excuse real or is someone getting played?

I think he is just being polite and can't say he's done with you. But frankly, this is an unacceptable behavior. He can just be honest with you. This signifies weak personality, so you might really be better off without him.

Everyone is so negative here... Have you ever said to yourself, "I'm going to clean my house" then like 2 mins latter you're like, taking a "break" because something on tv happened, or some really stupid excuse... you aren't cleanning, but you are? Its basicly making yourself feel alright about not doing something you know you should be.

I think he does like you, and he does want to be with you, but he knows he need to work hard at school to have a chance for a good life latter on, He "might" have in the back of his head -- unknowingly -- the thought we aren't dating, so I'm still working on school, but another part of him knows he likes you, and is being a "better" friend.

Basically I think he likes you, and he wants to be with you, but hes struggling with thins school/boyfriend, girlfriend thing. Is there anything wrong with it? I don't think so, but it does mean that you need to be careful, and respect yourself, and keep things slow, and not to do anything a boyfriend/girlfriend couple would do -- there is always room to be safe, and no one can tell what he may really be thinking.

Perhaps he's holding out for another girl. Or, some people, like me, may have had enough of relationships all together. I know I've got enough responsibilities to not have to look after a drama-queen or get a girl pregnant.

I was once in a situation like that. I didn't make the relationship official because I was too shy. She accused me of playing with her feeling anyway so I might as well...

Sounds like someone is having a good time. Why does he need to make a commitment, if he is not asking her to? She can do as she pleases too. I don't blame him, relationships can cause stress which affects school work.

he could be just going out with this person and having fun and enjoying him self without going down the relationship course ...maybe even friends with benefits which is totally different to a relationship

It's real if he is focusing on his schooling. Besides, even if you don't have the "girlfriend" title, you basically are anyways.

He is playing hard to get, he wants to how much you like him or he has been hurt before and is afraid.
