My cousin's friend's mother died of AIDs earlier this year and it was in her wishes that my aunt should adopt and take care of her daughter. My aunt gladly accepted. Well, my cousin was an only child for the majority of her 16 years of life... Well, now she has a little sister that is around 12. Anywho, my cousin talked to her mother this week and they are thinking about giving up the adoption and putting the girl in foster care... All because my cousin is a selfish *****. The girl hasn't done anything. She doesn't steal and she's really sweet. But my cousin is cruel and is too busy having sex around the house and bad mouthing her mother to give a damn about anyone. My mom feels bad and is thinking about adopting the girl. We live in CA and they live in FL.

Why are people so selfish?

I think it is very noble of your mom to want to adopt her. If she is really willing to do it and love the girl and raise her well, it will be better than foster care.

People are selfish. They will always be selfish. Even the people you think you can love and trust forever turn out to be selfish. Even love itself is a selfish act because humans like the way love feels. Sad but true.

It is sad when someone else's need's are more important then other's maybe the girl is better off with your mum that way she doesnt have the influence of your cousin but has your influence instead?

Selifshness breeds and I am sure you dont want this poor child going through more then is already help your mum get her to you it'd be better in the long run.I hope your aunt supports you it would be better for everyone.

I think the reason why people have to be selfish because they don't care about anyone else's needs and they only think of themselves and take things for granted. There's old saying that remind myself of. "It's not all about you."

This is typical. One rather himself/herself live than the others. Poor little girl, just let her join your family.

it is human nature. I dont blame her it will take alot away from her and she is insecure to begin with / is the sister a step sister? that could be more than enough to deal with for her.

It was predicted long ago that the love of many would grow cold.
