I have 2 kittens, 3 months old now (same litter, male and female)
I noticed the male started mounting the female and biting the back of her neck. I'm not sure if hes trying to hump her....i would think they were too young for that. She doesnt do anything, but lay there. i got them when they were 6 weeks old.

I know of a kitten who impregnated his mother when he was 3 1/2 months old HOWEVER I've heard that the males can reproduce before the females can so I really doubt your female would be able to become pregnant until she was at least 5 or 6 months old
all the same, the owner of the 3 1/2 month old cat who impregnated his mother was told by the vet that the cat was too young to reproduce and that the owners should wait to neuter him and not to bother separating him from his mother
perhaps you should only allow them together when you or someone is there to supervise, just until one or both of them are altered
It's better to be safe than sorry

Oh boy, you do like to ask the hard ones don't you? LOL Basically a female cat can come into estrus anytime after they are 4 mos old but usually around 6-8 months of age. I've had cats who didn't come into heat/estrus until they were a year old and one as young as 4 months so there is no set age or time - it depends on the breed or their development. If you have brother and sister kittens, you definitely want to get them neutered. Easiest sex to neuter is the male and it can be done at 4 months of age. I know that vets do spay/neuters on 8 week old kittens but personally I disapprove of this and think it's too early to do it and too hard on the kitten. Since you probably will not have any problems until they are around 4 months of age, you should have time to set up an appt with a good vet or a clinic and get one neutered before problems arrive. Just so you know, if a cat can come into heat, they can become pregnant and usually do if bred so the sooner the better with the neutering. Altho I am sure you realize that a brother/sister mating is not a desirable thing, I will just say that it doubles up on any bad genes when this happens and increases the likelihood that the kittens will not survive or will have some sort of problems. Most reputable breeders will NOT breed brother to sister for any reason - just too closely related!! Good luck and kudoes for asking questions and planning on getting your kittens neutered!

I have also heard of male kittens as young as four months old impregnating adult females. My girls have gone into screaming heat as young as 5 months, which means they may have had "silent" or "kitten" heats earlier than that. To prevent these kittens from breeding, especially with each other, I'd take them to be altered as soon as possible. All of my pet kittens are spayed/neutered at 12--16 weeks of age and recover very quickly; much quicker than the adults do.

They start mating around 6 months, more or less, when the female goes into heat. [Mine went into heat at 5 and a half months.]
And when this happens, you will KNOW it is happening; you won't have to guess or wonder about it. My advice, get 'em spayed before that.
Your kittens are just playing.

They're a little young to be fertile, but not by much. I'd say it's time to get a couple of kittens spayed/neutered :-)

Cats can reach sexual maturity at 6 months. You'll want to get them spayed/neutered by then unless you want more kittens.

Get them desexed now or get rid of one at least. My cat had kittens when she turned 8 months old. the vet told me at about twelve weeks is when you should consider getting them done.
