NOTHING NEW!

You have to understand, this is just a big-size example of shoppaholic and show-off egos. Everybody has the same problems hunting/ sucking money for spending and showing off his status.

I'm reluctant to criticize Abramovich -- viewing this phenomena as just a more vivid visibility of common Plutocratic "I have money" celebrity-seeking, and heroic egos. You and me also have these egos and shoppaholic illness lurking within -- prompt to show off unaware when time comes.

We all have been taught and training ourselve only to make money to to spend since getting a job, until we get addicted to shoppaholic. Small shoppaholic people worldwide altogether also empower factories to make, maybe much greater pollution effects.

If possible, I want to invite Abramovich and all of us make an online conference -- a kind of positive-thinking seminar -- to find out what should we do with the money we earn beyond upgrading our standards of living -- to feed back to empower the universe circulatory backup system.

It's about time to practice solving problems together in peace, not a time to fight!

Well Said Alberto (first answer) may have hit the nail on the head, Roman Abramovitch is a Russian oil billionaire. He can certainly afford an A380 and I guess he's not bothered about the environmental impact.

Wouldn't be the first time a rich nut job has tried to buy huge plane. One of the Saudi Princes owns a 747. And at the last airshow in France a Russian billionaire tried to buy a B-52. When the told him it wasn't for sale. He asked how much does it cost to make one. He then tried to offer them that much.

Obviously not. After all, he polluted the premier league with the obscene amounts of money he used to help Chelski buy success.

Seeing as how he is one of the richest men on the planet i guess it's up to him, but it doesn't give a good message in regards to our football industry. Too much money and greed in the game now, no wonder these footballers behave like Prima Donna's. As to the environment we are all to blame for that.
