The solution is rather simple but the ramifications are far to great for any police department to face. The police as a rule should be made of people policing themselves and other citizens based on the rules and laws created by the citizens. However most of the laws in the US (I can't speak for other places but I imagine this is similar) are understood to be "for the common good and therefore only really provide guidelines as to what is or isn't a crime.

Put it this way, marijuana is illegal but when was this voted on by the commonwealth of this country? It is safe to say that many in this country if given the choice to vote on that would vote to make it legal or at the least take away the severity of the punishment. The police can only enforce the laws put forth to them, so if you want to fix whats wrong with them. Elect representation that will make those changes. Good Luck on that if you don't have control and money.

I think police should be put on survelince so they can find crooked cops. Also I think some of them need attitude adjustments. And profiling should be done differently. Not because the cop thinks a certain person should be judged on looks or popularity.

im not really sure of the question...but its weird you talk about improving police...me and my sister had a discussion tonight about improving police...i dont necassarily agree with her....but i will act as if im her answering the question on how to improve our police....she said that she thinks we should make it harder to become police officers....she claims it is too easy to become part of the law enforcement these days....she thinks that if we were to raise the bar on becoming police officers it would improve our law enforcement....i dont know bout this...but she could be right...i mean who knows....never know til you try
