When an older man is with a younger woman (let's say an age diffence of 15 to 20 years) do you feel that he is looking for a trophy on his arm, she is looking for security or they are in love with each. What is your first impression.

different situations call for different answers and it really depends on the couple in question.
personally I'm dating a man that is almost 19 yrs older than i am and it does not bother me at all that he is older.
for the reasons that we have things in common
we have fun together
i love him
he loves me
and he is not using me as a trophy for his arm and i am not using him for security

also my mom is 16 yrs younger than my dad and so i seen that couples with an age difference can make it last

and i grew up around older people and so in a lot of ways i am more mature than most girls my age are.

i am also rather old fashioned when it comes to love and
heck age is just another number it don't mean anything.

I dated a couple of older guys at least 10 years older than I. Some were really great, others were horrible about the same as guys I've dated around my age. I don' think the relationship's last because of the difference in thinking, I think older guys like the fact they can still attract older women, but older women are more what they want because they can relate better. Older women who date younger men, those relationships do well because women adjust better to different situations. (as long as they don't try to be a "mom") Just my opinion here, but this was a very good question. Take care.

My first impression, one of two things

1) He is an immature man who for some reason cannot relate on the same level with women who have the experience and maturity that comes with age.

2) Is going through a midlife and found a woman who wants security and the stability that an older man can provide.

I don't understand how two people 20 years difference can have anything in common. It's a whole different generation with different point of views.

Honestly, my first impression would be that these two people got together because of a need rather than because of love. It could be him needing a younger partner to make him feel secure despite his age or, the girl needing financial security in the arms of a well established man.

Younger women value the maturity, intelligence, and possibly, the financial stability an older man can offer.

Older men value the beauty and high energy of younger women.

ive never really had an opinion until i met my lady then she threw all my preconceptions out the window --- she is much younger than me and she is NOT a trophy she is not a means for me to "regain my youth" (i love my age) --- she is strong and independent and we are in love --- i dont know about others i just know how we feel

My first impression is always that they love each other and that age makes no difference.
