My son's grandma took a bunch of kids all under the age of 7 to see this movie. The reason for this is because her youngest son who has a disability throws fits if he doesn't get what he wants and is very violent but I still think that was irresponsible on her part. Now I'm thinking twice about leaving her grandson with her because I'm scared he'll be exposed to that crap. People wonder why there is so much violence in this world, it seems like some parents just don't care enough about there own children to shield them from stuff like that.

I should've put in the headline what are people's views on anyone watching that movie? I haven't seen it personally but I've seen commericials.

I'm not blaming all the violence on movies, but if you look around there is a great increase in violence, etc... and it isn't normal for children to do the things they do. I've heard children who are 4 talk about shooting my kids in the face with a gun and they say the name of that particular gun, influence and other stuff we expose our children to is to blame (not fully though).

My son isn't 2 yet. I was talking about the kids she was watching. Maybe some should read my question more carefully. If she would've let my son see it there would've been problems.

I think it is less an issue of age than that of having the maturity to handle it. I personally do not care for the "shock horror" genre of movies so I will not be going.

I personally do think that it is the responsibility of parents to make those decisions for their own children. I would recommend that you speak to your child's grandmother and establish rules by which he will be allowed to visit her.

I would be less concerned about the movie though and more concerned about her youngest son and the violent tendencies he displays which she apparently cannot control.

I saw the original Halloween the year after it came out in the movies on the sunday night movie. It was in 79 and I was 7. Don't blame movies for all the violence in the world because I don't recall the Romans watching tv or movies. No they went to the galdiator games. Hitler didn't have cable did he. The news is the worst violenct viewed by children anyway because its real. Before you freak just let her know how upset you are and then set some guide lines. Just try to be civil.

My grandparents let me watch the Terminator when it originally came out on HBO. This was almost twenty years ago. I agree that one must be mindful of the things they expose their children to. I am willing to bet alot of it flew over your son's head but some of it stuck with him. Talk him through it and explain to him the consequences of the actions portrayed in the movie. Do the best you can do but shielding a child from certain things will open doors for other things to happen +/-. Good luck.

The movie rates a 22% (out of 100) on RottenTomatos.com - where there are LOTS of reviewers and they average out their opinions. 22% means it's a really horribly made film. Also imdb.com says that movie is rated R for strong brutal bloody violence and terror throughout, sexual content, graphic nudity and language. And your son's grandma took 7 year olds? Who approved of that? If I was the parent of one of those other children - or even if I was you - I'd be mad as hell. How dare her!!!! The reason her son throws fits - is because she gives into him (just like she did with this movie) and he knows that throwing fits WORKS.

I would never leave my child with her again. Slasher movies are disgusting. And they are definitely not for little children.

I don't get why you posted this in the R&S section.... - but whatever.

I agree with you. Seven is too young to see this sort of scary movie. I'm not sure about the 'violence,' but causing a child to have nightmares and fright is not healthy for the kid. At age seven, he or she should still be seeing movies about animals and other kids.

It's a rather graphic movie. Lots of gore. I wouldn't take any child to see it. In most cases the warning labels are justified. And they've gotten good at explaining why it's rated what it is (ie: rated PG: 13 for coarse language, etc)

My wife told me years ago that people who write these films are probably possessed and since she said that we have decided not to help finance these kind of people.
In the 40's the 3 main things people got into trouble for in school was
1. chewing gum
2. talking
3. making unnecessary noise in class

Today we have shown our children thousands of murders and illicit sex right in our own homes and wonder why the statistics now in schools in America are
1.Rape
2. Drugs
3. Assault

This is my view.

My mom exposed me to "Child's Play" at the age of five and I turned out fine. I never have thoughts of wanting to kill anyone.
