If you're still growing, it could be osteitis - an inflammatory condition of unknown origin; fortunately it *usually* responds to pain medication, but it may last for months. Other possibilities include infections, damage to the bones (for example from chronic calcium depletion), and - not meaning to worry you - lupus, or bone marrow disorders such as lymphoma. While you might find some temporary relief from ibuprofen or other OTC pain meds, you'll need a doctor to figure out what's going on. Good luck.

Hi Christine. Painful bones are not normal. Please take your symptoms seriously. Two disorders quickly come to mind that may be causing these pains.

First, vitamin D deficiency is very common today (it is at epidemic levels) and can cause bone pain. Severe vitamin D deficiency causes Rickets/Osteomalacia.

Second, vitamin C deficiency is becoming very common. 50% of Americans consume less than the RDA for vitamin C. 25% consume less than half of the RDA levels which places them at risk for developing scurvy. Scurvy is 'on the rise' and can cause bone pain.

It may be a good idea to seek professional help with your symptoms. Something is definitely not normal with your bones.

Best wishes and good luck.
