I have been a professional tarot card reader and I will tell you they are a tool for understanding the situation. I also TELL people who come to me for readings NOT to ask questions until I am through so THEY can make the determination about if I am just feeding them a line.

Yes, there are frauds out there but there are some people who have genuine talents.

My best theory as to how the cards work is that it is based on quantum mechanics. When you shuffle the deck for the reader (or for yourself) you are extablishing a connection to them at the quantum level. The reason that you can have 3 readers with different readings is that you are NOT the exact same person on that level from moment to moment.

I have personally had people laugh at a reading I gave them because they did not think it was possible at the time and then come back to me several months later and say that it was indeed accurate. Was it just their unconcious mind making connections? That would be up to you to decide.

One last thing, many readers are doing readings because of religious reasons. Those readers are less likely to be frauds because in most cases, mine included, it is actually against their religion to lie about the reading.

Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
they know a little of what makes the people go around

I could sit with you
on a sidewalk cafe table and have a coffee
you could be reading a book
and I would look at you
3 minutes 5 or maybe 7
and you could glance up at someone passing by
and I would watch
then you put your book down and decide to chat

I could blow your mind
easy

I've known others too that I have met in my life
they have the eyes to see but more the mind to know

I used to get a thrill
doing tarot cards
it is a dance of the mind meeting the mind
that is much like making love
or rape morelike
I remember saying it was much like introducing a repressed Christian into sex

each card has countless things that could be brought to words
but in the dance you know which ones to use
just like a lover knows the timing of when and what to do
Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
they wouldnt be what they are if they were just folks
somewhere in some life road they hit some bump and changed
perhaps they simply watched the people around them
Myself even I am not sure
why Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
make such perfect sense to me

to you it would be like
if you worked as a race car mechanic
for years and years and years
and then your neighbor
works on his auto machine
and you stand around
and help him drink his beer
and just before he straightens up
to reach around for some tool
you "just know" which tool to hand to him
it wasnt magic - it was what you were familiar to

Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
it isnt magic
unless magic is just the science
that other people do not know

so what if the three names of someone comes to be said
whatever was around you reminds me of three of who I know
synchronicity
I could go on and on and on
but suffice to say we all
all of us
have that which we have yet to learn
and some of what yet we do not know
is known by others
because they already learned

PS read the other answers
and came back to say
I could tell your future
and it could be a certain thing
right upon the brink of happening
but if you were truely wise
and didnt want that thing to come to be
knowing should be all the ammunition you should need
to change that future to your better desire

If tarot cards worked, 3 different readers would get the same results for 1 person.

You were tricked by something called 'cold reading'. It's a scam, that uses any information that can be gained about you immediately (clothes you're wearing, amount of jewelery, anything that you tell the reader) as a starting point. From there, they make certain guesses, and going on your responses to their guesses continue on.

Do a search for it. Tarot Cards are Bullsh!t...to borrow a phrase.

It's not the tarot cards doing the work, it's the reader. The cards are just a stack of cardboard and have no power in and of themselves. Their symbols and meanings are interpreted to draw conclusions about situations and reveal what is already present in the sub/unconscious. They may be used as a divination tool, and/or or for spiritual enlightenment and guidance.

I don't think it's the cards so much as it's the person behind the cards. The meanings of the cards are pretty vauge. It's the interaction between various cards that creates the meaning. And it's up to the reader to pick which meaning is the right one for the moment. I've had very good readings with tarot cards. I've done good readings. but the best reading I've ever had was a woman who read my palm.

The way tarot cards work is by somebody being incredibly skilled at reading in between the lines. They learn the meanings of individual cards, and then apply the meanings to the querent. Nothing spiritual about them, but sometimes people say it helps to be connected to spirit world. I don't believe that. I'm very skilled at reading cards, because I'm very skilled at reading people. I know a lot about human psychology.

And before you ask, I only read cards for myself, nobody else. I've had people come up to me and ask, and I've refused, and because I refused, they tried to goad me into proving it worked. I just don't like doing it for other people. I know what I want to know, and how to interpret the cards to suit my particular situation.

Trained tarot card readers not only rad the cards, but they read the person as well.
By seeing how they react or what they ask, they could deduce how close to the truth.

Generally, tarot cards can only give you a brief outline of the future, but it is up to the person to interprete the results. Some readers, give very vague answers, which can be read differently, according to the person

I've done tarot reading for my friends in the past. I experienced how its was done. One can actually draw the answers from the asker, my giving vague suggestions. My guinea pigs told me i was quite accurate too.

In the end, is all up to the asker, depending how accepting of them to the readings

I use the tarot for advices soo for reading the future as well.. but i believe I could change the future if I want

Its a joint effort between the asker and the reader. The asker actually is the one who draws or influences the cards drawn, and the reader interprets them as a cohesive message. The cards alone are just pretty pictures.

tarot cards give you something akin to a horoscope. Guidance on how you should proceed. Vague. I had a tarot reading down years before and she got down to details like how many kids I'd have and what the guy I'd marry would look like and our age difference....that's too specific. You don't get readings like that from tarot cards. So she pretty much jipped me.
