She's certainly not living life to its fullest potential.
Was she tested for agoraphobia?
Is she depressed?
Did she suffer a severe emotional injury (rape? Divorce?)
She sounds like she needs help - if you care for her - convince her to see a psychiatrist.

I would think, perhaps, she is experiencing a social phobia wherein, she is frightened, extremely, of parishing if she enters the outside world; however, it could be a fear of bacteria, extreme O.C.D.; or, it could be Post Tramatic Stress Syndrome, with an extreme fear of a re-occuring event; inside the house is safe, and that is fine with her; be very gentle and understanding with her, and you just might help her come out. There is some very bad trauma in her life, somewhere, if you can help her deal with it, she could possibly lose her fear, then, she would come out. Perhaps, she has been hurt, mentally and physically. Be gentle.

Could be a myriad of mental problems but definately a mental problem. Might have her checked for agoraphobia, depression, panic and anxiety to name a few.

How old is this girl? Is she living alone or with parents? It is hard to answer this without a little more information. Never leaves? This is unusual, but without more information I couldn't comment more.

She probably has agoraphobia. She needs to get treatment but convincing her to leave her home will be difficult b/c she could have panic attacks. I would talk to her and convince her to seek help.

Agoraphobia. It's an anxiety disorder.

Could also be depression.

well there is a reason for her to stay home for that long, maybe its anxiety or maybe she has a nice 60'' plasma tv with a booming surround sound and all the channels in the world, and has lots of money. lol
