Last cruise to Carribbean we took all ship excursions. May like to strike out on our own. What should we see and how should we go about it?

I've done that cruise three.. four times? I've lost track. My advice is to strike out on your own.

The big question is what do you want to do? See sight, shop, do sport fishing, swim, snorkel? It's your choice, but you can probably do better on your own, no matter what choice you make.

Ensendada's biggest attraction is the blowhole. It's a neat natural site... and you'll have a lot of vendors close if you want to shop. Or you can just want into town and shop if that is your thing. Personally, I don't get off the ship there or in Catalina as I've done it all before.

Cabo San Lucas offers better varieties, but figure out what you want to do and make reservations in advance if you can. If it is golf, book it and take a cab. If you like sport fishing, just go out to shore and do it! Bar hopping or sampling the local food is easy. Whale watching with a local company is also easy, but be sure whales are in season!

No matter what, you will save money by doing it yourself in advance or in port. Shore excursions are big moneymakers for the cruises. Just decide what you want to do. I'm considering sportfishing in my upcoming cruise on the Dawn Princess in Cabo... but I'll book on shore, not with the line. It saves money (I'll also BYOB!)

Go on your own. My advise for Ensenada though - is stay on the ship. It's a horrible little town with beggars everywhere.
Cabo has great beaches that you can get a taxi ride to for around $3.00 per person.
We normally do not pay the cost for the shore excursions, you can go to the same places by yourself at 1/2 the expense.
