If you have neuropathic pain the most effective drugs are the antiepileptic drugs called AEDs. Neurontin is one of these drugs. It may take trying the different drugs to find the right dose or drug(s) for your condition. Another drug which is very effective for neuropathy is Lyrica. Cymbalta can be an effective antidepressant drug in treating neuropathy also.

I also use biofeedback(a form of trained meditation) with good results.
Talk to your physician or see a pain medicine specialist.

Physical or emotional? 1 - 800mg Motrin in the AM, maybe one about 9 hours later, but not too often. Last week was bad though, and I won't take the heavy stuff. But I'm all back in place now... and didn't even need one this morning. Lately, reaching out to people has kept the other at bay. That, and working with the idea of starting my own business - my mind is all over the place so no time for slumping. Guess I'll try this for a while... (((Linz)))

Neurontin is given for pain but in the long run it does not work and it can effect your balance causing you another problem Effexor is dangerous and can effect your thinking process. You need some very strong drug to help when the pain comes on. This is a life long problem. I have a relative that is dealing with this right now. Neuropathy pain can never be cured. This is reality. I hope you find something to help you.

I use Neurontin's generic gabapentin. It also has a successor, Lyrica. They are first and foremost anti-convulsants, but for unknown reasons, work with peripheral neuropathies. I take narcotics for my back pain, but it never helps my leg pain/parasthesia. The gabapentin does. It took a few weeks to get up to the dose (1200mg day 3x400mg) that worked for me. I have no side effects, but reportedly it makes some people drowsy. Then you just dose load towards bedtime.

For the past 3 years I have suffered daily with neuropathy. Well it’s been just 1 week and I just cannot put into words how brilliant my results have been. I have absolutely no more hyper sensitivity and no more agonizing burning pains. I can’t explain it, but this thing works. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your secret with me.

I've tried many of the drugs, they're a mixed bag, but what really helps is simple flax oil caps. 2200mg a day (2 gel caps) i've been taking for the last 12 yrs. Plus it boosts your hdl.
