LIke when he parted the Red sea, or turning water into wine, saving people from physical dysfunction. These things only occurred in biblical times. What about now? there are plenty of devout people who need help and assistance. What about modern day massacres and murders in Iraq and Somalia. Where is god?

Does he need to? In the Bible the Pharisees wanted a miracle from Jesus 'so they could believe'. But Jesus wouldn't give them that, seeing that it wouldn't make a difference since they were so wicked.
This is a good question you're asking, and I think we all wonder about it at some point.
The things happening in our world are horrible, but it takes a change of heart in order to change a way of life. People choose to do evil things and as a result, the innocent suffer.
Would it really change things if God performed some kind of big miracle and solve all these problems? I'm not so sure about that because many people's evil hearts would stay the same and all the problems would start right over again.
God still performs grand miracles today. They're just not as much known about. But you'll find out fascinating stuff when you talk to people, especially folks like missionaries, etc.

Well; God is pre-occupied with performing the miracle of conversion, within the lives of those He has "called" and "chosen", to be followers of Jesus Christ.
Miracles of the magnitude of the Red Sea, etc., serve no purpose for God to now, perform. Is seeing really believing - or better, in the days of the Israelites when they came out from slavery under the Egyptians, the Israelites saw the miracle and still didn't believe God could provide for them in the wilderness. People are not attuned to believing in miracles even, after they see them with their own eyes. Did the masses become converted to Christianity when they saw Jesus raise people from the dead?
Take heart though - in the fact that God will intervene in the affairs of humans, one day, at the return of Jesus Christ to the earth. Here, you will have the dead raised back to life, the earth will once again, become a beautiful place with abundance for everyone. No more wars, hate nor evil (of course, this will be all made possible by our human nature being changed, by God). Simply put, this is not God's time for doing miracles you described.

If those are miracles how do you live to read about them or listen to people speak of them unless you have the - unexplained gift of this breath which comes and goes on its own and keeps me alive - so that I can even have this conversation.
That is a miracle which He has given us whether we are murderers, or in prisons or are devout in our own way and are sanctimonious. Whoever we are, as much as god looks after us, so does this breath.
If man massacres and murders it is man who has to stop it. If all human beings realize that inner peace within themselves they can live in harmony without wars, and conflicts.

Does the river (god made), refuse water(god made), with any discrimination(man made)?
I do not think god judges anyone- but man does that - see Iraq and Somalia - Even the country's boundaries are man made. Even the weapons are man made. Why do we blame god after doing such crimes ( Man against man)?
It is easy to blame others and we are good at it- Some os start at 3 years or more and go on till 95 or more. Why not take responsibility and accept our doings - instead of each one calling to god to be on his side?
To take responsibility for our actions is so hard that we blame god, like a child blames his sister!
God is there at all times; seeing to it that the breath comes in regularly giving another moment of life and leaving for the next one to come in.

Miracles served a number of important purposes. Most basic, they helped to establish or confirm the fact that a man was receiving power and support from God. (Ex 4:1-9) Both with Moses and Jesus people drew this correct conclusion. Through Moses, God had promised a coming prophet. Jesus’ miracles helped observers to identify him as that one.
We do not see God performing such miracles by the hands of his Christian servants today, because all needed things are present and available to the literate population of the world, and to help those who cannot read but who will listen, there are mature Christians who have knowledge and wisdom gained by study and experience.

Why isn't God (with a capital), doing any more miracles?

Because he's not interfering with human conditions and actions. We have free will, to do evil and good, and same goes to nature. God can soothe us, comfort us, give us that inner sense that everything is okay and guide us. It comes from within, if you can't feel it, then you're immature in your faith.

I'm not saying that God won't do miracles, or can't, but definitely not anytime nowadays.

It's actually prophesized that life conditions will get so bad, that people will wish they were dead.

This is supposed to happen, and God will not stop it because we have free will. That's why you have that feeling of "god's not around." It's because he's not in a sense. He's not interfering with this world. This world's job is to follow God, and try to lead life according to his ways, and then maybe God's presence may be felt, but that's obviously totally the opposite of what's really going on, and therefore God is MUCH less likely to do anything about anything. Not that he was going to interfere much to begin with.

Prepare yourself. Keep believing in God, but just prepare yourself. You shall need it.

God is. Living or dead, makes no difference. He can deal with people dead or alive, for He is victor over death. That is how He went and preached to the souls in prison,in the book of Peter. Also He performs miracles today in the hearts of men, when He opens there eyes to see,and gives them ears to hear. Listen when you speak to someone that has been bound by the traditions of men, that are most always taught from the pulpits today. When they hear real truth and not traditions of men that make void the Word of God. What a miracle it is to see sometimes 20 or even 50 years of bondage disapatate in a matter of seconds. That is POWER. It is found only in the truth of our precious Lord. There is none like unto Him,that can literally strip away years of bondage in seconds.

Miracles were given that we may believe. After the miracles were done, there was no more need for them. We have records of what happened and it is up to us to have or not have faith. We have faith, that is all the proof we need. Our faith has promises for a better time than on this earth and this hope is enough to make us listen to Him today. If He did miracles today, it would be like back then, some did not believe that saw His miracles.

Who said God isn't doing any miracles? Just because CNN doesn't report any?.... does that mean that there still isn't miracles?
God is still doing miracles!
According to Islam, this life is a time of testing. There are many difficult things going on. Those who have faith look to The Hereafter. This life is very temporary,... whereas The Hereafter is Forever.

there are different kinds of miracles, natural and unnatural... and within those there are miracles that can be seen as miracles, other miracles arent so obvious as miracles... sort of the explanation of nothing being a coincidence

an example of a natural miracle? the splitting of the red sea was natural... scientists have proven that it is possible that a sea/river will split when winds are going in a certain direction at a certain speed.... the hidden miracle is that it happened at that moment (its mentioned in the bible that a strong wind was blowing all night)

so the question is, do you even know what a miracle is?
