The bible, like the Koran and even the Iliad and the Odyssey is early man's interpretation of who we were, how we got here, and how to explain things that were going on around them. As the sole means of saving documents, it's also a collection of stories, many of which were passed down from multiple generations. Before Al Gore invented the internet, before computers, before infrastructure we take for granted, people passed down stories. As with any information which gets circulated verbally over time, many aspects of the stories are bound to change and get exaggerated.
This is all in addition to the various versions and re-writes that exist, many of which were done by various Popes and important figures in organized religion who wanted to skew what was in their for their own benefit.
Did God sit down and write word for word what's in there? Of course not! Did he dictate to a variety of "secretaries" what to put in there? Of course not! Whether one believes in God or not really isn't the issue here, and since none of us can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt whether or not he does exist, it's really a futile effort anyway.
What is blatantly obvious is that the bible is man's (and a few women like Ruth) interpretation of how they got there and what they thought God wanted the world to know.
This by no means is to mean that there isn't truth in the bible, that people can't learn from it or benefit from it or that it isn't a valuable document.
Back then, no one had excavated or seen dinosaur bones, so they didn't factor that into their interpretation, and since they couldn't figure out how else we can into existence, the idea of creationism was born..
At the end of the day, however, we, as intelligent human beings, who do have the means to more accurately interpret our origins, simply can't ignore that there simply is no way that creation is plausible, and evolution is not only plausible, but there's irrefutable proof of it, which is 100% lacking in the case of evolution.
I'm not trying to insult Christians and Jews, and especially Fundamentalist Christians, but science can prove that a number of things in the bible didn't happen the way it was written, but I've never seen a shred of evidence to support that it is 100% accurate.
Everyone is entitled to their faith and their beliefs, but they need to remember that being entitled to that means the next person over is entitled to believe something different, and that everyone's rights end where the next person's begins.
Eventually we will all find out the truth.

I probably shouldn't answer this question since I haven't actually read the whole Bible.
I started reading it at some point, and I was appalled with some of the things I read. Some things were really sexist towards women. I refuse to believe God is sexist.
I believe in God with all my heart!!
However, religions are made by men, and even if they have some things that are right about them, they're also made up to manipulate and control the masses. And also sometimes to suit the needs of those who start them. I think people don't need to be manipulated into being good. They have goodness inside them anyway. They should be good because they're in touch with their good side, and not because they're afraid of doing something bad.
I like some things about the Bible. Yet other things don't seem to be the word of God.
Of course what do I know? I'm only speculating. The only thing I know for sure is that I love God with all my heart, and I pray to be as close to him as possible.

From what I know the Bible is indirectly the Word of God. Over the years and so many translators and scribes had to rewrite all the books by hand. Over the years many changes occurred. There are original books of the bible I heard were excluded by the church hundreds of years ago.
It is the Word of God but not directly but the most accurate of what was passed to the prophets.
Also from what I understand Christians, Jews, and Muslims are the same religion and belief with different understandings.

No.
Is Quaran the word of God?
Is any scripture the word of God?
Is there only one god or as is in Hinduism and Paganism there are several gods each of them giving their own Bible(Scriptures)?
How many times was the Bible re-written by the bishops and kings and Popes to suit their needs/ their times?
If the gospels were passed by word of mouth, from generation to generation over 500 years (after Christ) when they met to write the first bible, how much of changes, corruption and personal influence would have taken place since the original preachings by Christ and those before him?
How can I believe that Bible is the only true word of god?

No, because if it was it would be totally perfect. Now many people are gonna say that people have messed it up but if that was the case the bible wouldn't mimic so many other religions of the same time period as it was written. Sure people will also say that the OT prophesies come true in the NT but what is to say the writers of the NT didn't make it that way. And since not much can be backed up historically I would say that if it was the word of god he would have forseen the critisism.

I do not believe that the Bible is the ONE AND ONLY "Word of God".
I believe the God of the Bible is only ONE of MANY Gods in the world.... and therefore other Gods have their own "True Words"

Yes, because it has changed the lives of millions of people, including mine. It meets every need of the human heart. It explains our purpose on earth. It is the story of God's love and salvation from Genesis through Revelation. I encourage everyone to read it but start in the New Testament or you may get bogged down in Leviticus or Second Chronicles and give up.

the bible is the word of god because of the message that it contains. if men had truly written it or not been guided by the hand of God, everyone would be more than happy with it. it would be full of tips like how to get over, how not to get caught at doing evil, how to take over the world, and other things that we, humans excel at. only God would ask us to *turn the other cheek*, *do unto others as we would have them do unto us*, *the power of forgiveness*, *about building relationships with others - even folks we don't like*...these Christian principles have become so ingrained in our culture that we forget that we had to be taught this and arrogantly claim that we are naturally *good*... i personally don't know of any other widely known message from God, but i won't say that it doesn't exist...because the bible says that when we love each other, God's love is made manifest on earth...
